As with any such programs, the fine prints are important. The program does not cover any wear and tear items. In my experience wear and tear maintenance forms the bulk of the cost of maintenance. One very important note is that this will not cover defects failure resulting from "improper maintenance of vehicle as per Standard Preventive Maintenance Program" and "Alteration, modification or repairs undertaken by unauthorised persons or workshops". If you take up this program, you probably need to send your car for maintenance (regular and others) to Motor Image to ensure that you can claim from it when the need arise. Like any insurance package, the likelihood that you need to claim on it is pretty low, but if and when the need arise, you will save a lot. The cost of the repairs for the claimable repairs could be very high. I guess this works for those who have a high mileage/usage car where the possibility of breakdowns are higher. If you are the kind owner that always send your car to MI for servicing, you may want to consider the Subaru Preventive Maintenance Program. This program does give you some savings over the cost. ↡ Advertisement
Elginlye 1st Gear November 9, 2022 Share November 9, 2022 (edited) Thanks. For my case, I have already replaced aircon cooling coil outside (~$400). Compressor might fail next. Hope nothing goes wrong with FNA gearbox & engine. I suppose the above parts failure would be covered by the warranty insurance? I have been on SPMP so far. Wear-n-tear parts e.g. wheel bearings, LCA bushing, shock absorbers replaced at outside workshop. Edited November 9, 2022 by Elginlye
Greddy82 1st Gear November 11, 2022 Share November 11, 2022 Hi bros MI currently has currently promotion on their servicing package, $1533 for 5 services (4 +1). What's your take on it? Cheers

In fact, engine of fxt is cooler than fna due to the hearsay need to do so to get it more torque and power .. but higher engine temp of fna had been validated. Cheers. Drove to KL last month, on the highway hitting around 150kmph, my oil temp hit around 112 degree. Gauge still showing normal though. But dont dare to drag so long since my car isnt particularly new. Once hit 115 degree, i will drop speed down to 120kmph, temp around that speed is 108 degree. not sure if this is normal though.
Greddy82 1st Gear November 11, 2022 Share November 11, 2022 @Stratovarius Thanks for the input. Gotten a used XT myself and it is my first Turbo car. So learning more about it as the day go by. Planning to do a Malaysia run in the next few weeks so gathering some info (and reading the long threads in here) as I don't have any reference (eg. safe oil temp range when doing hi speed cruising or engine behaviour in long jams) to begin with. 😁

Def lower than the temp when i hit high speed. Overall ride is quite stable at high speeds. I've never tried hitting over 200 with the car but pretty sure there is still "omph" left. 😅 i did prep my car abit by going for an oil change which was due anyway together with a batt check. richard_crl032 6th Gear November 11, 2022 Share November 11, 2022 @Stratovarius Hi, FNA or FXT ? 115 or even 112 deg C is NOT normal and strongly recommend to get your ride thoroughly check on its cooling system ! Kindly share findings. Cheers.
richard_crl032 6th Gear November 11, 2022 Share November 11, 2022 @Stratovarius btw, dun bother about battery check result ... if it is close or beyond 2 yrs, change out to new one and hv an absolute piece of mind. Cheers.

Goes up to 108 @ 120kmph and higher as the speed goes up. i understand the temp will go up with speed but not sure if the increase is normal.
richard_crl032 6th Gear November 11, 2022 Share November 11, 2022 @Stratovarius Hi, Abnormal to me with such increase if cooling system is doing its job even if high speeds. Cheers,
Greddy82 1st Gear November 11, 2022 Share November 11, 2022 @Stratovarius mine local road driving is around 93 deg. @richard_crl032 what do u reckon the acceptable temp for prolonged hi speed frive.?
richard_crl032 6th Gear November 11, 2022 Share November 11, 2022 (edited) @Greddy82 Hi Greddy, I do not often go beyond "high speed" 140kmhr and also not prolonged duration at that speed in my drive up north but it never exceeded 105 deg C on this available stock coolant temp readout ... only had the scangauge last 2 years or more accurate engine temp which is typically even higher. Guess the key point consideration is what were the readings previously when car is newer and if there is a significant temp difference, it would then warrant us to have it checked ... think too many variables to really say but 115 deg C or 240 deg F to me is worrysome* especially due to my own personal fiasco. Warped engine blocks needed replacement is painfully expensive and lower block about 7k ... I had to change mine recently because coolant pipe to my AOS leaked unknowingly until it was too late 😞 Only consolation is that my Oct 2017 fxt run smooth and quiet since engine mileage is only 3k ... saving up for next COE .. lol 😅 Cheers. * https://www.subaruforester.org/threads/2014-engine-oil-normal-temperature-range.236665/ .... I usually see 202 to 207 unless I really push it, then 210 to 216 (deg F) is normal ..... ..... my max was 220 in my FXT when i was driving through the canyons the other week but couldnt help but to question "what is considered too high?" ..... Okay. I may be wrong about the numbers. Will confirm again when I get the chance to drive during the weekend. To be honest, most of the time my screen is showing the boost meter. Only change to temp meter on my trip up north. my observation is that the temp will stay the same at a given speed. So I’m not that concern. Just curious what others are having. Mine has stock internals, some mod to the turbo pipes and valves. Ecu is tuned for higher boost and able to hold abit longer.
Greddy82 1st Gear November 12, 2022 Share November 12, 2022 @Stratovarius from the link that Richard shared, a Fillipino dude was driving at prolonged duration of 200 kmph and engine temp exceeding 120 + degrees . Of course we wouldn't know whether that is within the safety range but we now have figures for reference.
5ub23r0 1st Gear November 12, 2022 Share November 12, 2022 @Stratovarius i drive to kl and penang on alternate once every 6 weeks or so since border reopened. usually 160-200kmh range on NS highway. midday highest temp on EO was around 105 and night driving usually around 95 i have EO cooler installed and a double core alu radiator. @Greddy82 jam no issues bro on overheating. had a 3 hour jam once after clearing tuas and EO was hovering between 93-96 with me aircon on full blast. midday outside temp 37.
