The auto fold motor failed too easily. After repair last time I ask workshop to disable the auto fold when engine off.

I only press the fold button at tighter car park or parallel parking.

I think they disconnected one cable in the mirror.

No .. only tried another freelance svc provider, YoungPeh, at Ponggol mscp ... a bit more at sgd100 and fine for both mazda 6 and forester xt. Cheers.

@Stratovarius Meanwhile, pls do not push hard manually else risk damaging the plastic gears .. else it will not be 70 for just the motors. Cheers.

Took apart the side mirror before, the gears are strong enough. In fact they factored in the idea of people accidentally pushing the side mirror by force.

It is the motor which is the cause of the issue, maybe became weak after repeatedly auto open and close. My right-side mirror got accident brushed my a public bus, caused the indicator light and lower cover broke. The folding mechanism is still working. 🤣

@Incom  Opened up and saw plastic gears right ? These are the ones that forcing it will break the teeth or at least wear them out. Hope I had mis-saw then. Cheers.

PS: Repaired once for forester's 4 yrs ago I think for my 7 yrs old fxt and generous spray of silicon had so far worked when it starts closing or opening half way .. fingercrossed cos I need to desolder speaker wires and unbox on modded front door panels 🤞🤞

I took side mirror apart before when trying to do the repair of the motor myself. I still have some leftover parts at home, let me go and search and take photos.

Cannot remember that it was this complicated 😅😅

The infamous failing sgd10 Tomiya motor and good to see main metal gear but not sure/cannot see if the mating gear is expected plastic or also metal but I still wun forcibly push the side mirror to close fully or drag it to open fully when it fails 🙏🙏

The mating gear is plastic, but it is still strong enough to withstand accident knock.
