I went to the most popular workshop at Bukit Merah, and the senior tech drove my car one round and decided very definitively that my CAT need to replace. When I suggested to him my car got no error code - he did not hesitate to say when CAT spoil, also have sound. He later quoted S$3000 for refurb CAT plus 2 new 02 Sensors! The workshop name start with A. ( Avoid at all cost - not honest!!) I immediate called my usual workshop, Subaru specialist at Northlink and over the phone he told me CAT spoil no sound and ask me to send to him to check. He hoist and one look found a broken bracket, replaced and rattle gone!! Cost was $40. with the fuel we use in singapore plus constant maintenance cat very hard to fail one.... unless you intentionally pour petrol into the cat or have antilag or flamethrower system installed la. heng ah your issue got resolved without additional cost. and imho, the day you blow your engine also your cat sure still going strong. Had it checked and some bolts & nuts have been tightened but the noise still persist. I have not changed the engine mouting before. Is it possible that the noise is coming from the engine mount. TIA. uh 95km but how many years liao? all mountings and bushings will deteriotiate over time. having a lower mileage car might mean your wear and tear items will last a tad longer than higher mileage cars. if ur car shudders or have more vibration during startup, idling and accelation then most prolly engine mountings but your "klock klock" sounds only over humps then it could be your lower control arm bushings, absorber mountings, sway bar bushings and the occasional cv axle or steering rack. or do you have a nut or a bolt stored somewhere in the glove box or door side pockets? ↡ Advertisement
Bplakad 1st Gear September 15, 2023 Share September 15, 2023 @5ub23r0 my car is 7.5 years old. Haha, confirm no nuts & bolts in the glove box. I also go to the workshop at northlink. Went on thursday, he heard the noise but cannot detect the fault. That's why i am thinking of changing the engine mounting (even though no vibration when idling). sugarhill 1st Gear November 11, 2023 Share November 11, 2023 Hi, Driving a 2016 Forester with 160K. Engine & CVT serviced regularly. Car problem free until today. First time got stuck in JB jam with start-stop for 2 hours today. After clearing SG customs i noticed "AT Oil Temp" light came on at the bottom left corner of dash. Shocked, I quickly pulled over and turned off engine. Waited for about 5 minutes, started and drove again normally, this time the "AT Oil Temp" light gone and car felt normal. Any bros here experience before your CVT / AT Oil Temp light come on while idle. start stop jam before? Thanks!

Any bros here experience before your CVT / AT Oil Temp light come on while idle. start stop jam before? Thanks! I am driving a 2016 Levorg, 220K+ km and had experienced this twice ("AT Oil Temp" lighted). 1st occurrence last Apr when on the NSHW heading to KL. Did the same as you, turned off the engine and waited and warning light went off thereafter. Happened once again on the return leg. My usual workshop could not find out what was wrong nor give a proper diagnosis and just advised to monitor. Told to and changed CVT oil to be safe, which I did. 2nd occurrence just 2months ago in Sep, travelling normally (50-60kmh) in SG but I recall it was in extreme hot weather. This time, the workshop reflashed the OBD and similarly, could not pinpoint the fault and again advised to change CVT oil, which again I did. However, I was told this time that due to the high mileage, the probable cause was due to GB worn and now due to overhaul. I have yet to do this big operation as I am not entirely sure if it is truly the cause for this warning light to come on. For both occasions, car went into limp mode once the AT Oil Temp light came on. Both occurrences were when car was in motion, so slightly different from your situation. But I am very keen to know what your workshop advises/proposes. Staying tuned. Edited November 14, 2023 by Verceroy
sugarhill 1st Gear November 14, 2023 Share November 14, 2023 @Verceroy Some backstory from my end - I had a CVT oil leak 6 months ago, right after i did CVT oil change. Went back to workshop to replace all the leaky parts and change CVT oil AGAIN - So i officially changed CVT oil X 2 this year alone. So now my CVT is in good condition and no leaks. That's where we come back to the present where last week i kenna the AT Oil Temp warning briefly after sitting in 2 hour JB jam. Went back to workshop today and check. No Fault Codes and No Leaks. BUT, I found out that the workshop after fixing the leak 6 months ago, they also permanently disconnected the stock CVT oil cooler due to age of the car. This was done as a preventive measure due to high incidence of failure of the stock CVT oil coolant leaking into the CVT GB. They also said it should be OK to do without the stock CVT oil cooler if driving in normal conditions - which obviously is not the case. Solution? I arranged to install an external radiator to cool the CVT GB soon this week.
Incom 1st Gear November 21, 2023 Share November 21, 2023 @Bplakad Check the bushings, I got the same problem and got them replaced recently at BKS. Will send the list of bushings to replace later.
Bplakad 1st Gear November 21, 2023 Share November 21, 2023 @Incom Thanks Incom. Coincidentally I was at BKS this morning and they decided to change my engine mounting. I would appreciate if you could let me know what you had (bushings) changed so that if my problem still persist, I will ask BKS to look at it when I go down for servicing in December.
