Hi FNA owners,

what's your idling rpm when aircon is on?

Mine is betw 650 to 800.

Mine is 1500. But I am finding my car shiver when switched on first thing in the morning for few mins.

This is with regards to Fxt - audio unit

Anyone realise the radio - FM reception is not reliable. Sound gets dull and clear intermittently. I remember somebody mentioned volume increase with speed what feature and how to disable this pls

Anybody got the USB source to work successfully?

Higher RPM can be expected during cold start phase, purpose is to warm up the engine to operating temp quicker.

It shld drop to 650~800 after 2 mins.

I asked the RPM question because I am trivially annoyed by the throbbing @ the steering wheel. Heavier throbbing when compressor kicks-in.

At my 5K servicing last week, I double-checked with the test FNA car @ Leng Kee, idling RPM was above 800 (aircon on) after cold start phase.

I had this same throbbing issue with my 10-yr old FNA, when the compressor kicks out, not in. Surprised 10 years on the issue still exists.

Hi

My 1.5 years old forester NA battery (old type that uses battery water) from MI is getting weaker. Used better tester only get 11.3v when engine is not start, thought it has achieve 14.3v when engine is running. Any recommendations for replacing the no-maintenance battery and cost ?

Thanks

Yup you are right. I checked today and it's around 650-800 once car has warmed up.

Hey bros..i got 8 month left on my current ride, and i had to decide what ride to get after CNY.

I am torn between harrier and forester XT now. 1 is such a beauty with elegance in its lines, making you feel everything is alright, the other, a ferocious monster ready to take challenges on our roads anytime, and always ready to give you power on the tap of your right leg

Can the bros here do share with me why you ended up buying a FXT? I drive approx 30k km a year, and running cost is a concern..

My mileage is also around 30k a year.

Also consider the the Harrier. But after test driving the FXT, there is no turn back for me. Now I had been enjoying my FXT for more than 6 month. There is no regret, to get any others SUV with similar performance. Will need to paid at least another $100k more.

You will have to decide based on what is more important to you. Don't forget that the Harrier will cost at least $10k more. Even though it have better FC. You are paying in advance more than FXT upfront.

Agree with Bro....  you heart is already with FXT.... furthermore, Harrier is PI... if you didn't notice.... more and more PI run road.... I was lucky that time mine didn't.... but I ain't taking anymore chance for my next purchase... [grin] .... and you cant test drive, unless you got friend/relative who has a Harrier to let you try.

Go test drive the FXT.... think you will like it..... for 2L ride.... Harrier aint going to save u a lot off $$$ either...

In fairness to Harrier, it's also a great SUV. Very quiet cabin, ride is smooth, nice interior & with a huge panoramic sunroof. U have to have lots of patience with its pickup. Also, there r quite a number of good PIs around.

Each car has its appeal. Accept the car as it is after your purchase.

u want power and yet u r worry about the running cost...

i bet u feel toyota is much reliable... where subbie has snail and its AWD system to maintain :)

i had no experiences with subaru...and i do share the similar thinkings as well :(

but i'm comparing a SUV vs sedan aka an apple vs orange...

Yes bro. Just like you. Mind as set on harrier, but go sway to test the FXT, and then that's it, i am back to dilema. I want comfort for my family, yet power for myself. hehe

FC is my secondary concern, more on long term servicing.

I had friend driving the older forester, and maintenance burnt a hole in his pocket. Parts definitely not cheap, not sure if turbo has added maintenance cost. My 1st time considering a TC car

Something for you to consider bro.

It sounds like you have a 130-140k budget.

You could get a NA car, and then feel it's lacking something, then try to add on all kinds of parts / additives etc to make it go faster. Even if you spend 10 and up, you can't really make up the difference.

So you worry about FC. One thing you may want to calculate is your mileage. If you do a lot, then the FC comes into play more and it can get painful. If you aren't really going very far, what you pay more in FC, you make up in the fun factor.

However, you must be prepared. If you notice, a significant part of this thread is about FC. It tells you that it's a big deal and you should factor it in. I also had the FXT in my list of cars before, when it cost 129k, and for a bit more you have other options that give decent power but are lower in FC.

But there are very few cars in it's price range, with the solid build that will accelerate like a FXT. However if this kind of power is more nice to have, but not a must, then you may also want to look at the conti options.

VW/ Audi etc all give 0-100 accelerations in the 9s or so range. So does the modest looking Merc B180. So depending on your needs, tastes etc, there are numerous choices.

For a safe choice, the Harrier is good, but then it's a PI car, does that frighten you? Then it's back to the drawing board bro.. because each car has it's pros and cons.

If you can stomach the FC, you won't find a faster SUV right now. This is the flying brick of the 21st century..

If he is concerned about maintenance and FC with 30k km per year mileage, he should seriously consider 2AT.

Good low end torque, super good FC with 1000km per full tank. PML also offering 5 yrs FOC maintenance n warranty.

I wanted to suggest that too, but it might fall above the 140k mark.. when I asked, it was 145k net..

And not as zoom zoom as the FXT.

Otherwise I totally agree, it's very drivable, torquey, and the interior is one up from both FXT and Harrier. Clever rear seats, and the badge does add a shine too..

the price can be done below 140k if one wants to close the deal [sly]
