If it's NA I can't see any reason not getting the Harrier at 10k higher in price but also 15k higher in omv..

Yup, no reason not to get a harrier if that fit your needs. I look at XT for subaru's 4WD off road capability and technology cos i need to drive up to rural areas in MY without proper roads.

Combined with the right size, best handling and power at this price, i dun have much options. Also, being a subaru its less likely to get stolen in MY. Top ten list of cars that got stolen are all the proton models followed by Toyota and Honda (Reported in Media). Harrier top their fav 'to steal suv' list. (Hearsay by fellow Msians)

I never really went deep into understanding so don't quote me on this. i sort of learned that, higher OMV will means you are actually incurring interest on the loan to pay for the higher OMV because selling price will be higher for a higher OMV car. And, unless u looking to scrap the car after 10 years, it is interest paid for nothing. If you sell your car after 3 years, it would mean you paid 3 years of interest on that extra $10,000 price. The resale value of your car is largely determined by the future COE price and the price of the brand new same model when you sell, not base on the time when you bought. So in a way, OMV matter more if you want to use the car for 10 years, but not so much if you looking to sell within few years.

I don't deny at all that getting Harrier costs you more than Frosty NA, but the exact one important factor missing from your analysis is that you would be driving a better car at marginally higher price. Better trim, more spacious, less thirsty.

Eh..10-15k more is comparing Forester XT to Harrier.. if it's FNA, it's easily 20-25k more.

I agree with less thirty aspect because it's a front wheel drive vs AWD.

Trim wise depends individually.. before buying the forester, I was told the interior of the Harrier is so good.. I went to view the basic without sun roof and the premium with sun roof and not impressed at the aspect of trim, it's not bad but I wouldn't buy the Harrier because of its interior (you know some cars the interior is so good can overlook other factors).. maybe because considered many factors in, and also viewed quite a number of other SUV.

Space wise, both fotester and Harrier are similar actually.

Side track also, got a friend who got harrier and drove to KL last week. Told me at constant depressing of the accelerator, when the Harrier hit 130km/hr, lost the torque and speed came down to 120-110.. no high end torque.. he really look disappointed. But of course city driving absolutely no issue and pleasant to drive the Harrier.

For Forester XT.. at 160 still accelerating without fully depressing pedal.

I was quoting when someone mentioned FL NA is going to cost $125k. At $110k it's a hell of an SUV, not so when it becomes 15k more ex.

No la.. NA version I think it's around 113k. It's like 25-30k cheaper than the lowest specs Harrier while forester NA specs is not shaddy at all, big sun roof, electric seat etc..

Neutral Newbie

Relative to the compact crossovers like Vezel and Qashqai, the NA Forester @ $113,800 is now $7k-$12k more compared to a gap of only $3k-$8k due to CAT A COE drop of $9k.

MI will be foolish (but likely) to launch the MY2016 Forester @ too much of a price premium at the Motorshow considering that the 7-seater SUVs like Outlander and X-Trail is now $124k-$130k. The FXT is good value if it stays at $124,800 but still has only 5 seats at the end of the day.

Heard that the headlights and tailights will both be LEDs with DRL in the fog light housing but otherwise no major equipment changes. The $2k-$3k trading margin probably still applies for those considering the Forester.

Torn between getting the Forester or the more practical Wish/Outlander now although the new Touran looks interesting too...if only the Exiga is available in SG!  [crazy]

Forester XT should have no problem to achieve such high speed .

If you need a genuine 7 seater that can accommodate 7 adults, at your kind of budget, it's got to be the Mazda 5.

The 7 seaters you are looking at, the last row seat fits children best. Would be a squeeze for adults.

Not every buyer want the 7 seat lah.

For me the 5 seat is good for me.

Even for the X Trial, the 3rd row are so squeeze...

Most of the buyer who bought the Forester XT are due to the performance. Including me waiting at the sideline.

I originally target the Harrier, after test drive FXT. What I want is very clear

If you need 7 seater most of the time.. wish is needed, Outlander a little tight on row3, but still can. But if really seldom utilise full vehicle for 7 pax on daily basis.. reconsider Outlander. . The FC think quite fierce..

VW Torran?? 1.4T? Reconsider that man..

Highest I went was 200km/hr.. because got cars in front on NSHW so slowed back to 130. But above 200 to around 210-220 should be ok

These engines arent used in the Singapore Forester or XV so not an issue for local owners. Might be relevant to Outback or Legacy drivers though...
