Puiru 2nd Gear December 14, 2015 Share December 14, 2015 wow looks like everyone is having good comments on this car! but looks like eat a lot of petrol My average FC is arouns 10.5km/l for a non-turbo. My driving pattern is mixed and no complain attaining this FC figure. The car is really comfortable place to be in. My parents, wife, children, friends all share the same compliments. My sister who dont usually comment about cars, told me that Forester feels very stable and quiet as compare to my previous cars after fetching her from airport to her home in the west. I suggest if one can wait afew more months for the facelift Forester that claim 16km/l by Subaru Japan.

Guess this kind of thing is personal preferances and experiences. Thats why some ppl willing to spent lots of cash to make their ride as quiet as possible.

No point getting a car which makes other people feel comfortable (i.e. back passenger) and they only sit in it ocassionally, and you feel like shit when you driving. it just do not add up.
Chucky2007 Turbocharged December 14, 2015 Share December 14, 2015 wow looks like everyone is having good comments on this car! but looks like eat a lot of petrol FC is one aspect of ownership.. For me, if buying a above 100k vehicle that can be used for 10 years, should be generally satisfied with the car. Good FC cars nowadays at below 130k range, and generally have vezel, Axio, Altis, Vios, Attrage, Note, Jazz etc.. however most of these cars are below 1600kg in weight and below 180bhp. For similar weight vehicles that are price around $130k. only have Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Xtrail, Nissan QQ2.0, Ford Kuga.. around 140k, Hyundai Tucson, Chevy Captiva.. All of them don't offer permanent AWD, and 240bhp.. and their FC are also same same as forester in actual driving. So for permanent AWD to have average 8+-9+km FC.. it's actually quite good IMHO.. sat in a 2.0NA during test drive and seriously its not that quiet. NVH is at most average. Think Hyundai Tucson or Nissan Xtrail quieter.. if looking at cabin insulation, many choices out there.
L00khere Neutral Newbie December 14, 2015 Share December 14, 2015 It's voice down to whether you prefer a 2.5NA or 2.0turbo now with a price difference of just 2k. When I book in September this year, the price difference was 8k.. so consider a smaller sunroof, higher tunnel in the back seat, no turbo, and OF COURSE HIGHER PRICE of 8k.. I took the forester. Now with 2k price more, if you think you don't mind no turbo, then the Outback have better stereo system, better sound insulation (forester sound proof not bad, I Think its inadequate initially but after sitting in a friend's Audi A4 on Saturday, I think it's as quiet or quieter), bigger boot, wider body, and not as common. If I were to book a Subaru today with 2k price difference, I will most probably go for Outback overlooking the higher tunnel at back seat and smaller sunroof as one of the reason is also Outback looks more stunning from the back than Forester. yah lor...i was also quite surprised with the 2k differences. yah it is longer, wider and of course heavier (~100kg). was just thinking should i get the Outback and then lup turbo! haha....somehow i'm stuck between a bigger CC w/o tc and smaller CC with tc. You'll be able to get the servicing prices from the following link... http://www.subaru.asia/sg/en/owners/aftersales/?pg=packages No auto dim mirror. Yes, there's auto wiper. :) you can get aftermarket auto-dim mirror, or from Subaru USA if the mounting fits.

Have explored this option extensively. the original subaru auto dimming mirrors (coupled with the dimming side mirrors) is the most ideal.... in short yes, you can get the US auto dimming mirrors, and it comes with its mounting too~ however electrically speaking, the local foresters does not comes with the pre-laid cables like the usdm foresters... so have to tap power source from nearby cables. same same for the aftermarket options. Cboonh 2nd Gear December 15, 2015 Share December 15, 2015 (edited) Could it be that Hyundai cars have the sound proofing material sprayed underneath their car.. Think its called Tuffkote?Could be. But what talking you? No head No tail? :P Edit: went back a few post and found the link. :) I understand there's some sort of coating done on the underside of the Chasis too. Not too sure if the tuffkote layer really helps with the soundproofing. :) Edited December 15, 2015 by Cboonh
Jerrimie Clutched December 15, 2015 Share December 15, 2015 Tuff kote is only for anti rust, doesn't do anything for sound proofing. MI offers the anti rust and sound deadening coating for underbody too. ↡ Advertisement
