not sure anyone responded to your query.

"excess" mean when you do a own claim, you need to fork out say, $1.4k before any repair can be made.

if your repair amount to 10k, you need to fork out 1.4k and the rest the insurance will take care of it. We

If your repair cost like bumper scratch is 500, it make no sense to self claim and further more, 30% of NCD will be written off once you claim it.

Thanks for responding!

Exactly. So basically the higher your excess, the higher your liability in the event of an accident caused by oneself. My understanding is that some of us adjust the excess amount to our own comfort level. Usually when excess goes up, premium comes down, vice versa.

I'm asking how come given such a high excess value, the premium is still so high. Not sure if the excess quoted (not premium) given my the SE is salah.

So I wanted to find out from the bros here who booked if the excess quoted by the in-house AIG insurance is similar..

highlighted in red is not relevant.

high excess is related to premium. There are people that gamble on lower premium but with high excess.

What i mean by liability is the excess we have to pay in the event of self-claim. Anyway, i understand what you are trying to say, let's not debate on the technicalities. :D

Back on the excess. So high excess rightly leads to lower insurance yearly premium. For my case, it feels like a double whammy leh, high premium and high excess. [shocked][shocked][shocked]

Ah okay, thanks for confirming!

If I do not want to take up the inhouse AIG insurance, understand that there's a $300 increase in car price.

I may be exploring that option. look see look see...

Did you guys buy with guarantee or non-guarantee COE?

What is your reason?

I'm in dilemma on which to choose...the difference is $2k.

The pearl white is a beauty ! However, it needs tender loving care, must be cleaned regularly, else it is an outstanding color !

So are you choosing white?

Even though I have not make up my mind which color, In my opinion white is easier to take care as not obvious for scratches. Dust can be seen on black too.

The only color I feel striking is white the rest too dull compare to the color other brand has to offer...too bad...

Sharing some links found online for the forester. For folks who can't wait to get their drive (like me!), or to keep a copy for future reference. :)

Owner's Manual 2016 Forester (note that this is for the canadian/us LHD models, there's other Subaru models too, their 2016 model should be MY15 models)

Just take note not everything may be relevant to our rides.

For instance, I was told we do not have passenger seatbelt detention. We also do not have childseat detection for front passenger seat so that it will disable the airbag.

Bummer for me. I always want to put my childseat in front.

Chose white as it's the one that caught me and my wife's attention when we entered the showroom.

Near my office, there's dark grey, black, red and blue (all foresters) but no whites!

Other reasons:

  • CO insisted on this colour though i'm the one that does the cleaning and maintenance
  • White is slightly cooler in the sun
  • Good visibility to other road users in the dark
  • Not a "loud" colour
  • Current ride is black, want a change
  • It looks good on forester, even better with a little cosmetic upgrade

BUT

  • It turns yellowish over time
  • Its hard to bring out the colour's depth even with very good detailing(waxing/polishing) when compared to a black/dark car
  • Common on the road

Don't worry it turning yellowish over time. My first white car (Mondeo) in 2003 lasted 5 years without turning yellowish. However, many commented my Euro R look yellowish within the first year of ownership.
