thats because you do not know the joy of self shifting.

do you have class 3 or 3A?

in euro MT very popular, last year I brought my family to euro tour,

Car rental companies budget/compact size cars almost all are MT, only mid-size above are AT, much expensive,

but i'm 3A, although my wife is 3, she never drove MT since passed the TP test, also not confident to drive MT

we had no choice to spend more $$ on car rental,

exactly, it's not how fast or how fuel efficient auto is now, but...

Controlling a manual downslope and round a bend is still far superior than any auto.

ADs don't want to bring in manual is not because there's no market, but it's too reliable. How to tan (pian) jiak if cars don't break down as frequently as possible?

Quoting from Richard hammond, changing gears is a form of expression.

Gone are the days MT are faster than AT with all the dual clutch thingy. But those are only found on high end cars. Most supercars do away with MT as it affects their 0~100 timing, which is a big thing. But nothing beats the feel of changing gears manually while reving to the rpm you want.

Saw a lady last week driving swift sport and doing half clutch on a carpark slope while waiting for the other car to park in the upper deck, quite a turn on man.

Hypersonic

No need for name calling. I believe that we can have a nice discussion without the insults and name calling.

Auto is indeed easier to drive, but sometimes, brain just switch off when driving auto. Of course, in jams, auto is miles ahead of manual when comparing for comfort.

in NZ many manual cars are available; I guess they are good with terrain there and you can use the gears to control the car (engine braking) rather than using brakes and it really helps

5-6 gears good and more than enough. More than that more wear and tear, engine less work = more carbon build-ups = sluggish engine.

Manual Transmission is so much cheaper to maintain. Lesser headaches. I might want to renew COE on the 06 vios to enjoy the MT for another 5 years! Pocket not deep enough for a manual continental car

I got my license in 1998, since then has been driving my dad's van, then lorry then my own subaru car. always has been on manual gear.

Now my car coe going to wrap up soon, i intend to look out for manual gear but if choice not so much or too expensive then i will go for a hilux or any double cab turbo diesel pick-up.

i drove my GF auto gear car, very relaxing ride yet a monotonous one. To me jam is not an issue (not like the jam will last for days) because I love driving and appreciate the way I control and steer my vehicle to my desires.....

*the best part of driving manual car these days is that you don't need to lend your car to anyone who has a 3A class. haha

It's not going to be discontinued. Look at Europe, most of their new cars still have the manual option. It's just the ADs here are not going to bring them in.
