SuPerBoRed Twincharged January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 Finally we know why these 2 witnesses seemed to "suddenly appear". Knn. Our police sleeping on the job again. Luckily these 2 chaps did not give up and went out of their way to make sure the truth was told would be nicer if the court can explain why a police report was made and no follow up was conducted.. waste of tax payers money for the court case and the subsequent jail time .. and most crucially.. what is the police going to do about it to stop these things from happening again.. Watwheels Supersonic January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 This means priority is not given to an existing trial. The police report the witnesses made could take very long to process and could miss the trial altogether. There should be some kinda easier access made to the public if they have useful information. The police report the witnesses made could take very long to process and could miss the trial altogether. There should be some kinda easier access made to the public if they have useful information. What kind of priority needed? Actually just need to forward the report to the investigating officer for the assault case and IO should straight away call the witnesses in for questioning. Time taken to forward the report should be 15 mins at most? would be nicer if the court can explain why a police report was made and no follow up was conducted.. waste of tax payers money for the court case and the subsequent jail time .. and most crucially.. what is the police going to do about it to stop these things from happening again.. Tax payer's money is not my primary concern here. Our concern should be innocent people being sent to jail.

Kusje Supersonic January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 he pleaded guilty... You don't know how it works? If got no witnesses and the evidence is against you, lawyer/police/grandmother will advise you to plead guilty and ask for leniency. If he knew there were witnesses, you think he would have pleaded guilty?

The witness should have highlighted that it's an ongoing trial while making the police report so that it can be given priority to be processed immediately and sent to court. Otherwise...you know gov organisation, everything is given a queue number and it will take forever to reach a human and be processed. Singapore system. Everything got procedure and paperwork. If it's like what you say, no need so long wait for every damn issue. If only.

The prove is under the lawyer responsibility. the police also can't possibly relate every call to the respective lawyers.
SuPerBoRed Twincharged January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 You don't know how it works? and no.. touch wood.. never kenna case before.. If got no witnesses and the evidence is against you, lawyer/police/grandmother will advise you to plead guilty and ask for leniency. If he knew there were witnesses, you think he would have pleaded guilty? Corneliussen's lawyer, Mr Terence Seah, said his client had pleaded guilty because he was too drunk to remember the details of the fight and the police had eyewitness accounts that he had attacked Mr Chan. if you are so drunk until u cannot remember if u started the fight... and the witnesses available only saw the latter stages of the fight... who's fault is it in your opinion? it is not the job of the police to look for witness since the case is about 2 man fighting. The prove is under the lawyer responsibility. the police also can't possibly relate every call to the respective lawyers. ah? someone come up to the police station make a police report.. all you have to do is interview him... Lala81 Hypersonic January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 I think the IO just flags people/potential witnesses up to the lawyer/AGC that's all. Somehow the police reports didn't get linked up.

Jman888 Moderator January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 ah? someone come up to the police station make a police report.. all you have to do is interview him... but the case was closed, also not police job to prove anything since both have lawyer. Kusje Supersonic January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 Seems like we have a fundamental difference in our belief of what the police should be. Some of you believe that they just need to follow procedure, eat donuts (local context would be nasi lemak) then call it a day and go home. In that case, don't blame the public for losing trust and respect for the police lor.
Watwheels Supersonic January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 I think many things in life needs to take action much like the way the 2 witness tried to make things happen so that the innocent can walk free again. If they were to sat around and waited for something to happen or point fingers at the police they would have never succed their goal. I believe someone here got assaulted by a group a men and he too had to take action on his own to help the police apprehend his attackers. They are those who take action. And they are those who will sit around and point fingers. Who do you think will have a higher chance to succed?
Still2016 Twincharged January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 More important is the question, if you witness an injustice would you be responsible to come forward to give evidence knowing that you will potentially be dragged into the limelight too. No guarantee that you suddenly become another person who needs to engage an expensive lawyer to prove that you are speaking the truth. ↡ Advertisement
