Porker Turbocharged May 6, 2015 Share May 6, 2015 The apprenticeship system does not have to be with the top best practice manufacturing, the model should be able to apply in different industry. To what i see, the program 1) is to let student have early exposure to what they are studying, 2) get a ready labor force in the market to solve the shortage problem, 3) to help the student identify what they want or wish to do by experiencing the nature of the job. The current system of getting everyone into university when student choose the course base on parents, peer, teachers, forecast, etc to decide without much thoughts, then half or or even after they complete the course, they are still not sure what they want to do. We have a lot of mismatch in career with the younger generation today and it is a waste of resources in education and also on the job training when these people move around too fast. The reality is young people tend not to know what they want to do. Even grown folks do too! Nurturing and helping them discover what they love is a process. The discovery process can be had with degree courses too. At least it is more secure to err with a degree as back up then a freaking vocational cert or whatever the f*ck its called 😂😂😂
Sabian Turbocharged May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 My wife told me earlier today her colleague's husband went to a teacher-parent meeting session at a prestige school in Bishan area last week. He was shock to see more than half the Sec 1 student in this school came from south asia as one look can see their parents are not local. He was told that the school went to that south asia country to recruit student to study here. No wonder lesser local went into that school now days. So now not only uni full of ft. It starts from sec school. Since now locals are discouraged to get a degree, then why ft needs to have a degree and they are being recruited into our top school and has a head-start over us? Simi school? Can gibe a clue? Start with R or C?

Took him few years and back to square one but at least he found his real passion and what he wants to do.
Thaiyotakamli Supersonic May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 you must ask "who have more than one?" Haha nowadays having one is considered adequate But then again degree no longer important after u r in the workforce for few years as upon applying for another job, employer would ask your capability and experience instead of ur degree cert. Gitanic 6th Gear May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 When degree holders are 50.1% of cohort it is mass-education.How to excel when you are one of them and think similar to one of them? Degree as a backup is good but may not take you far if you can't perform in job or unlucky and land in incorrect matching job.

Vid Hypersonic May 7, 2015 Share May 7, 2015 What if not rich? Not rich have to work hard. No easy way out. Getting a good degree is the first step. After that, the rest is up to individual to crave out.
