Mcscot 5th Gear August 7, 2021 Share August 7, 2021 Currently, I have the older A3 1.0 TFSI sedan (18 months). I have the Audi UTR - it is not as intuitive to use and download videos. I would avoid it if you can and get one outside. It seems odd that it shuts down when the windscreen gets too hot! The solar film provided to me was lowest quality and I had to top up to get some decent quality. However, $1K for both sounds like an OK deal but you will need to clarify which grade you are getting. Enjoy your new ride ... it looks amazing! ↡ Advertisement
Shouyi 3rd Gear August 7, 2021 Share August 7, 2021 @hsolo89 i heard before PA closing one eye on the $3K trade-in penalty when they are desperate for sale. All the best!
oleoleole 2nd Gear August 7, 2021 Share August 7, 2021 @hsolo89 $130+K for a new A3 sounds like a pretty reasonable deal! But typical of PA to lowball you for trade-in. If you can convince them to give you same package without trading in your vehicle, I'll say go for it! Esp if the diff is >$5K. Within the same price range, maybe you can go test bmw 116i too. Effective price is ard $136K, and from my experience, PML's trade-in value is much more competitive. And current promo comes with 5yrs warranty, 5yrs servicing, solar film and all. And I love the 116's interior! Exterior looks aggressive too, although looks are subjective. For some reason, I feel bmws drive better even if the models are FWD. The handling, especially. Have fun car-shopping!

Didnt u just buy a scala? Paying 1k for camera and film is not cheap. Not worth it. Servcing at most can squueze 1 time out. Chances of bargaining a lower price is higher. Never tell pa u willing to pay for extra.

Have fun car-shopping! Yeah 116i promo is better. Only issue is that 116i is not even mild hybrid. It is new car but old tech le. The 5 years servcing is worth it. Bmw handling on most car is no fight. However have to say audi a3 handling and suspension is one of the best i have tested this year. Bmw handling is just legendary. oleoleole 2nd Gear August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 @Logtas ahh, excellent point on the mild hybrid! Definitely doesn't feel like an "old tech" car when you sit inside though - the form and fittings are top notch. I'm not an engineer so I'm not sure how they do it, but bmw handling is really nice even for FWD models
hsolo89 1st Gear August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 @Shouyi will try, but i reached out to a private dealer who i got quite a competitive quote previously. seems like they its 5k difference vs last month - they attribute it to lower demand and COE drop.. @oleoleole @Logtas haha 1 series is out for me as the boot is too high for my wife to close! and also quite low, so the occasional parents fetching is not ideal. I heard a fair bit of reviews about the 3-cylinder from colleagues' past experience that highly recommend me not to go for it too. your thoughts? @Mcscot i have no doubt that its probably one of the lowest quality film. Whats the price for a decent camera outside at the moment though?
Logtas 1st Gear August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 (edited) Coming from 3 cylinder turbo bmw its acceptable. Audi a3 is 4 cyliinder 1.5 T is quiet and smooth. Things i prefer a3 to have but dont have are runflat tyres, electric driver seat, electric tail gate. Not sure 116i has alcantara leather seats included and runflat. Need to testdrive both then you will know which one you like. They r pretty competitive Edited August 8, 2021 by Logtas
Shouyi 3rd Gear August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 I was given Thinkware F800 pro by Skoda. I think it is a decent dashcam. Shopee price around $400. Rikecool solar flim, which was given too, feels pretty useless under the hot sun.
Ghostshellz 1st Gear August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 Sportback 133.9k with 33k OT Loan based on listed price 166k. No free servicing and freebies Super low trade in price with No trade-in penalty 3k Just hope that PA is desperate to waive off the 3k penalty… good luck to A3 buyers. I wonder how existing buyers feel who signed at 139k with 3k no trade-in top-up and no free servicing & freebies initially…. 😢
therock Supersonic August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 Isn't the hatchback German, and the sedan Hungarian? Will that explain any differences in OMV?
kurrent 1st Gear August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 @therock seem like both hatchback and sedan are made in germany. Sedan omv is slightly higher than sportback.
P0711142 Neutral Newbie August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 @oleoleole agree. Aparts from 0-100km/h and maybe FC, i think bmw1 is overall a better buy. PML offers the full package with 5yrs servicing, car cam, flim etc without all this trade in penalty bs. If u compare the profit margin between the 2, i think bmw1 is significantly lower. Bmw1 also has more features such as memory seat and auto parking (quite useful for parallel parking imo). Furthermore, the cabin is also more well build and less plastic feel. Just my honest opinion pls dont flame me 😁

Whats the price for a decent camera outside at the moment though? I'm currently driving an F46 216i GT (1.5L 3-cyliner turbo), previous cars include 1.2T Qashqai, 1.3 Fit, 2.0 Tucson, 1.4T Scirocco, 1.6 SX4, 1.6A Honda Civic, so my 2 cents - Branding (face value): both on par FC: I presume A3 would be better since is mild hybrid. I'm currently getting 12KM/L for my 2GT, pretty decent for a MPV Handling: BMW Interior: A3 looks more futuristic, but BMW1 jus screams professional and quality Exterior: Subjective, but I guess A3 jus edges it due to new model / design language Intangible stuff: so far I'm blown away with PML's cust service. They go all the way to perfecting your bmw ownership experience. From car collection to servicing to dedicated WA number where you can ask them anything under the sun abt yr car and the correct person wil reply u within seconds (they'll aldy know wad car you're driving!) to 24hrs complimentary roadside assistance, you'll feel damn pampered. And add 5yrs warranty and 5yrs servicing (incl battery!) and higher trade-in value and flexible loan packages, I think BMW is the leader in car ownership experience. (although Mercedes might even be better, I duno since nv own before) You won't go wrong with either choice! 😉

By the end of your 2nd year ownership, get the battery checked during servicing. Otherwise, you might end up calling BMW RSA.
hsolo89 1st Gear August 8, 2021 Share August 8, 2021 @oleoleole BMW wise, i might go for the 218GC. Thoughts on that? One reason im changing is also cause of the non-multi link suspension for my A200. Everytime go over bump at an angle, my toddler head bounced like a bobble head. And then i'll get whacked by the SO..
