Just an update bro, went to the Audi showroom last week, apparently they ain't selling the A3 that you bought, now it's another variant with more features and also a higher price as well.

There is another more expensive trim for A3. Are you talking about that one?

I think so? They call it the sports multi-tronic I think?

 

Cos like you, I was also looking at the same A3 that you bought back then and I found that it was quite "bare" with very few options i.e. no USB port, not keyless etc. Then I saw the showroom A3 last week and realised it's much different now and the price is also 20k more too. Would have considered this variant if it was available back then.

Those options are available when I bought too. There are not new. You just need to pay for them.

 

To me the base model is really not that bare. The only thing missing that i wanted was the smart key option (at $1.8k) which I'll add on later.

 

There is no USB host for you to plug your hard drives but there is a SD card slot, aux in and Bluetooth music which are more than enough. Of course you can add on the audi connectivity package (incl. LTE, usb host etc support) which again will cost you.

 

Built in navigation is an option too --not that useful anyway in Singapore (waze and such from the mobile phone are always available).

 

Electric seat is 3k option as well but I have no need for one since I am the only one driving.

 

There is also sport package which change the suspension plus some body kit and larger rim at $8k.

 

Of course there is also advanced add on packages like the lane, parking and collision assist which are never standard equipments.

 

Other than above all the rest are there.

Yes. Park assist. Self parking with reverse cam.

I found Audi sedans only suitable for 4 passengers (include Driver), rear leg room very cramp and center seat almost cannot sit, unless buy A6L or A8L

Rear legroom is quite ok but agreed with you on the center passenger which is the case with most contis that have the trasmission hump.

Hi, My A3 sedan is approaching 7,000KM since I bought in Jan,2015. Do you think it's necessary to do an oil change at 7,500KM ? if Yes, how much will be? Thanks.

Wouldn't be necessary imo... But then again, the continental cars are said to drink a lot of engine oil... If it doesn't cost a lot of money for the service, you can give it a shot.

Depends on how you drive. If you do lots of start stop traffic or like to Rev then maybe it is good idea to do it at 7.5k. Otherwise don't think it is needed.

I am at nearly 7k but didn't detect any engine oil consumption. Dip stick oil level no perceptible change at all. Maybe it is the new generation a3 ea211 engine has overcome the engine oil consumption issue. Edited June 1, 2015 by zerobim08

Sorry for asking this noob question,

 

is audi A3 7-speed S-tronic same as VW 7-speed DSG? Understand that they are of the same group of companies.

 

Read up a lot on forums, some said is exactly the same while some said totally not.

Quite confusing therefore I think is best to check with the existing A3 car owners in Singapore.

 

My neighbour Jetta 1.4 7speed DSG is already giving him problems and he experienced jerking movement or lack of power from time to time. Mileage is less than 20,000km. He advise me not to get a VW next time or rather a 7speed DSG.

 

A close friend of mine wish to get a A3 but he is not too sure about the gear box reliability.

 

Say both gear box are exactly the same platform, Audi seems to have fewer complains as compared to the infamous VW DSG.

Wondering if Audi did something to their cars which VW did not.

 

 

Maybe some kind gurus can shed some light on this matter
