Muser 4th Gear October 8, 2016 Share October 8, 2016 http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/writeup.php?AID=146 I thought both RS Chip and this so called Power Box are piggy backs... Exactly. They are. EcuTek is the platform for directly flashing your ECU.
7hm Turbocharged October 8, 2016 Share October 8, 2016 Exactly. They are. EcuTek is the platform for directly flashing your ECU. ...eh, when I said ECUTech earlier, I was referring this brand. ECUTech Power Box. Not EcuTek.

7hm Turbocharged October 8, 2016 Share October 8, 2016 Lol, paiseh, my bad. Power Box, eh? Okay. I'd love to hear from someone who's tried one. Their website claims a 32hp (13.3%) and 44Nm (12.9%) increase for my engine. 3 year warranty. Compared to Race Chip these are pretty modest numbers. Like Race Chip, ECUTech says theirs are 100% German made. Seems they don't have an existing tune result for Subarus, or they don't do for Japs at all. I notice the only Jap marque they have existing tune result for is Nissan, but even then only for the models that are in Europe (Qashqai and Juke). I can't decide if modest improvement claims are reassuring (cuz realistic) or uninspiring (cuz not value for money). What are RSChip's claims for your engine? 3-year-warranty is one year more than RSChip.
7hm Turbocharged October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 (edited) I can't decide if modest improvement claims are reassuring (cuz realistic) or uninspiring (cuz not value for money). What are RSChip's claims for your engine? 3-year-warranty is one year more than RSChip. Modest may also mean reliable or less likelihood of issues since closer to stock spec. But who knows. RaceChip SG doesn't have my precise model catalogued yet, but for the engine they report the following: Sounds a little off the 237hp I otherwise hear. Maybe their calculation of 240ps is different. I think I used 238hp in my previous % calculation for ECUTech. RSChip has like, three variants of my particular car engine and model, so I have no idea what's the difference between the three. The end result displayed looks the same and so does the chip box. Theirs claims an increase of 29hp (12.23%) and 40Nm (11.76%), which is lower than ECUTech, priced at $499 (USD?). In addition their claim is based on original of 239hp (which in turn makes the figure +12.1%), like Race Chip. Edited October 9, 2016 by 7hm

That's one of the problems with these sorts of plug-and-play piggybacks - they are black boxes with insufficient explanation of what exactly they are doing. FYI, the actual RSChip units and boxes all look the same, with the exception of various different distributor logos. The RSChip always comes blank and unprogrammed when brand new from the factory. ER-3682 Twincharged October 12, 2016 Share October 12, 2016 Your engine has power in reserve. Unlock its full potential with RaceChip. Factory tuning is for longer engine life....you can get more power, but in our hot weather,it will strain the engine.

haronkr 4th Gear October 14, 2016 Share October 14, 2016 The person is actually saying the chips will trick your ecu in getting the car to generate more power. Hence, improving the performance albeit at the expense of harming it. Not saying that they dont work.

James996 4th Gear October 28, 2016 Share October 28, 2016 For sharing, After see you posted on the fine tuning option, I wrote an email to Rschip and their development manager replied below: Fine tune adjustments are extra settings which you can apply to any driving mode: Sport+/Sport/Eco. Fine tunes are different combination of oxygen/fuel in the fuel-air mixture. Quite often these adjustments show results even when you don't feel any power gain in basic modes. It takes a few miles distance to feel difference in driving after applying the fine tune. Applying a fine tune to your current driving mode is rather simple. After choosing Sport+/Sport or Eco apply the fine tune you want to try. Drive a few miles to see the difference in the car behavior. If nothing happens, than choose the next fine tune - this way you'll see the most effective one.

But one weird thing is when I re visit the fine tune page, no check sign found on FO+2, so not sure is this tuning stay or had reset to factory setting? Thanks for your tips...now my Wish is flying!! haha For other featues like F+1, F+2, what does it mean? Pls enlighten. Hello Wish69,Had you try to re visit the fine tuning page? Does the check mark remained? ↡ Advertisement
