Shoebox 3rd Gear April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Is it common? Yes it's common. How ah? Fit and drive off already right? Then cannot return already. You can sell 2nd hand. 14 is still good. 13 grey area. If 12 or below, then let us know who sell you one.
Columbian78 6th Gear April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Do you mean you bought 4 tires from a shop and the date codes are not all the same? I think if the dates are not too far off from each other (6 months to 1 year diff depending on personal tolerance) it is ok. When I collected my new car, i got 1 tire diff date code from the rest. In additiona the tires were slightly more than 1 year old (as of the new car collect date). I was quite unhappy at first. Asked around and then conclude its nothing major.
Jtyres 2nd Gear April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 Don't worry about the DOT codes if they are less than 3years old. Brand new tyres have a shelf life of 5-6years depending on the brand
nazerath Turbocharged April 24, 2015 Author Share April 24, 2015 the feeling not good coz before I buy, I asked if it is 15 tires. I checked the first one and it was and they were in sets of 4. I paid a premium, more than what J tyre had quoted. The reason I went there is that they got 2015 but I was given 14. for info.. my old tire i was replacing was as new as may 2014. so the feeling really sucks.

Aren't V40 stock tyres michellin primacy 3? These are relatively good tyres. Not UHP of course, but definitely of some standard.

Columbian78 6th Gear April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 If the tires already on your car and you had driven off, then i think there is nothing much you can do about it. If on the spot, you have every right to stop the deal and walk off. I fully sympathize with you as I have experienced it myself. But technically, there really isn't much to concern about. Sometimes, it is good to buy at shop where they don't have ready stocks. They will order from the distributor and the tires usually will be fresh. I changed mine recently and the tires were delivered while I was at the shop waiting. They were dated 1 month prior. the feeling not good coz before I buy, I asked if it is 15 tires. Just take everything they say with a pinch of salt. That's why buying used cars are often a unpleasant experience.

Roberttan 5th Gear April 27, 2015 Share April 27, 2015 Now u know. Where got so many owner change tire before they sell car right. Actually I am a victim myself so sharing. only way to have 100% new tyres is You go buy yourself from your tyre shop, because you are there to witness the change. but be more reasonable , buying a second hand car you expect New tyres ? Used car meaning every parts of the car are used. But surely you can request new tyres before transaction. Again you want 100% ask for some rebate for you to go buy NEW tyre yourself 1000000000% new tyre frankly speaking only possible NEW part of the used car is the Spare tyre we already have many things to look for when buying new tyre. Now you want this number to be all same, Jia luck , more headache . If the tyres are of the 100% same type you are fine when the date is not same (of course not 5years gap) please be more sensible , life is tough if everything must look into
