Bro, if you're into nice interior design and all that stuff, you need to buy this.

But i think it's some pretty weak fan for such a high price if you ask me, not justifiable.

See which you like, design or value for money.

I bought and installed. So far so good. [:)]

For a standing fan, the capicator is an AC cap rated at 1.5uF, 450VAC. Ceiling fan should be somewhere around that capacitance.

Bought at Ebay for about S$3.

It's a small black rectangular component with a red and black wire connecting to the motor.

Just need to cut the wires, then on the replacement, red to red, black to black attach them back.

For ceiling fan, it is usually located between the fan and light, inside the round holder.

For standing fan, it is at the back where the motor is. Remove the cover and you'll see it.

All my fans came back to life after I replaced it.

Can google CBB61 if you want to have a look how it looks like.

Changed my aircon's compressor before when it was no longer blowing cold air. About s$20+ for one and looks like a spray can. No wring needed for aircon.

whoa!!!!!! expert spotted!!!!!

Where can buy the aircon capacitor?

Can get from ebay. Just search for aircon capacitor, look for the correct capacitance and power rating.

The attached video shows replacing DC capacitors. you'll need to watch out for the polarity, if not it'll "pop" once you power it up.

AC capacitors no such problem.

and from my experience, dun put table with reflective tops below those fan+light. Even if the fan is above the light, got such tables below, you look on it will see the reflection and get headache...

Since this thread is on ceiling fans, if the ceiling fans spoil down the road, will the Malaysian shops provide support or repair? Should consider this too.

Coincidentally my fan (an Amasco bought in Singapore), 2 of the 3 speeds conk off, left speed 3. Called up the manufacturer, they said likely the capacitor spoilt, quoted me $50 transport plus $30 replace the faulty part… Arranged for this Sat appt...

are there any cheaper alternatives out there (apart from ownself change, since I dunno how to…)?

DIY. Can buy the capacitor for $10-$20.

Welcome ... :)

For aircon capacitor replacement, the capacitor is at the compressor unit.

so you need to figure how to open it up or search your online videos.

Most of the time, it's the removal of the top cover.

For normal standing/table fans, it'll be much easier.

The capacitor is located where the motor is. Just need to remove the plastic cover covering the motor.

The 2 black stuffs are the capacitors. These are AC capacitors.

Look at the rating carefully, I think I saw one is 1.8uF.

You can go Sim Lim and buy or for me I buy from aliexpress.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/450VAC-1-8uF-50-60Hz-5-Tolerance-Fan-Motor-Running-Capacitor-CBB61/32375259060.html

You see orange plastic connector, that one is twist off.

The bare wire will be exposed. Just swap with the good capacitors and twist back on.

If the capacitor wire is crimped to the connector, then you need to cut and join..and replaced with another crimp.

Make sure you switch off electricity first before attempting to replace capacitors.

Intend to go over to JB this weekend to get some ceiling fans and downlights for my new house.

But I am not too sure if the lighting switch is cheaper over there or SGP.

Anyone, any recommendation ? How about Legrand swiches ? Where to get har ?

I bought a KDK fan at. Best Light Electrical few days ago.

Address: No 15-17, Jalan Ros Merah 2/10, Taman Johor Jaya

The new model with DC Motor (short pipe) RM 575 before GST

The hook is around RM 2.50. They told me concrete and false ceiling require different hook.

I saw they display some switches there under Legrand, never ask the pricing.

You can try there if interested.

I wanted to buy a wall-mounted fan to save space.

Looking at the price, mostly around $80~$120, with KDK being the most expensive.

My fren intro Toyomi to me. It cost $60 or less with remote control at local Giant.

Was quite happy with it. I've bought another 2 since.

Not sure, why I would pay double the price for a KDK, unless it can last twice as long.
