There are a lot of land parcels that govt can choose not to do anything and just leave it there. 

1 option is that they just leave it in limbo until they so decide to restore/preserve it as a heritage/propaganda area. 
LHY can't sell it. They don't touch it until the 2 surviving Lees are really lao kok kok liao.

No. I remember the will is for LWL to live in it till she moved out/died. Not till the last child. And it belongs to LHY 100%.

so if gahmen want to gazette it for monument or conservation, it has to be fast, else LHY can demolish it soon...

Even after demolished, that piece of land still belong to the Lee right? So what they plan to build there?

I always found it a bit strange this sale, and iirc, lhy said to have paid a very high price. 

It is clear that lhy lwl wanted to demolish the house later.

But for lhl to sell it but still be a extremely influential part of the very govt that can gazette it..... lhy is in a fundamentally losing position? 输两次.. lose 2 times

It's normal lah, will always have such people who are unmarried and no commitment thus dedicated 100% of life to work work work. No other distractions in life. Then when grow old, will be a bit eccentric - showing favour and kindness to some, but very demanding to others. Complicated characters.

I like her insightful columns though, and the tone was quite frank. Should have gone into politics then more fun.
