Camrysfa Turbocharged April 11, 2015 Share April 11, 2015 The most important is the apps must be used by people from other countries and region. I don't just send messages locally. So whatsapp..and line still rules. Not just a local mamak shop, but agree, it's a challenge to move people over to this wavee . . . http://techcrunch.com/2015/04/09/singtel-wavee/ Singtel, Southeast Asia’s biggest telecom with more than 500 million subscribers, has unleashed a new Skype and WhatsApp competitor called Wavee. As with any new social or messaging app, however, Wavee not only faces the problem of getting new users, but helping those people convince their friends to download and use Wavee, too. In an effort to help things along, Singtel will not charge its 500 million subscribers local data fees for Wavee until July 9. The app also plans to add calls from Wavee to local mobile or landline numbers in the second half of this year.
Sabian Turbocharged April 11, 2015 Share April 11, 2015 Sorry. Can't help but to feel cynical and steer clear of almost everything Stinktel. I wanna support local companies but this Leopard never changes its spots.

Hydrocarbon Turbocharged April 11, 2015 Share April 11, 2015 Now is free, make full use of it ...... When time to pay, press delete button ... Even if it's free, why would I want to use it when I'm already using something that's quite good? WhatsApp is fast, not laggy, and most importantly, all my friends are already on it. Change to another app that does basically the same stuff, but doesn't give me extra value, and I have to convince people to use it? No thanks.
Nzy Twincharged April 11, 2015 Share April 11, 2015 Not going to waste time installing it unless most of my friends switch over. Many of my friends also waiting for most of their friends to switch over before they switch.
Kangadrool Supersonic April 11, 2015 Share April 11, 2015 (edited) not worth. Just pay data charges and it won't consume a lot of data too. to add salt to the "wound", why would postpaid subscribers need to pay same subscription rates as prepaid customers when "by default", there's already some "free" data for all the combo plans built in for postpaid? http://info.singtel.com/personal/whatsapp-pass/faq they also come up with this whatsapp pass Edited April 11, 2015 by Kangadrool

NightWind 4th Gear April 12, 2015 Share April 12, 2015 Well said. Look ar what they did afew years back with tge standard 12gig mobile data plan. I know whattsapp is also profit motivated, but they r the lesser of two evils. [ quote name=Bavarian" post="5458981" timestamp="1428721315] Wait until you use until song-song and Singtel will monetise it. Not that easy. By the time they impose charge, sinktel will have monopoly with many sg users. N everyone of your frens, relatives etc will b on it. So it wont b easy to delete. U gotta boycott it NOW. BEFORE ITS TOO LATE Now is free, make full use of it ...... When time to pay, press delete button ...
NightWind 4th Gear April 12, 2015 Share April 12, 2015 If u allow sinktel to build up the number of users, by the time they impose a charge, almost everyone in sg willl b on it. Unlike china n jap, we have very small market here that is already dominated by GLCs who fix prices n plans to suck us dry. Dont give them the chance to build up the user data base. We have to boycott Wavee NOW, BEFORE ITS TOIO LATE Now is free, make full use of it ...... When time to pay, press delete button ...

Globe, AIS , some interest in Bharti, etc. If there is a local telco that has a chance of taking on Whatsapp or Line, it may be Singtel. The network is there but how to get users to switch is a tall order. ↡ Advertisement
