how many HU in other models have "upgrade path" one?

the steering is lighter than toyotas?

I find there's no real need for an "upgrade path" on SYNC2, it's already capable of about everything most will need it to do and it will likely still get stability/performance updates down the line. Already most people do not make use of all features of their infotainment system... I haven't personally met anyone who knows every single feature of MMI or iDrive...

If not, it may be possible to retrofit the entire SYNC3 module later.

The steering... cannot possibly be lighter than a Toyota...

old technologies?

besides the already mentioned NEW Drive-E engines and 8spd auto gearbox,

there's CitySafety and excellent performance in the new "Small Overlap Collision Test".

it has been recognized as 2015 IIHS Top Safety Pick+:

attachicon.gifCapture.PNG

"The S80 upholds Volvos long-standing reputation for safety. Among its accolades, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recognized S80 with its newest and highest rating for 2014, the Top Safety Pick+ award. IIHS created this award to recognize good or acceptable performance in the small overlap collision test. The S80 received the top good rating for this test.

The Top Safety Pick+ results include good performance in the small overlap front test, which replicates what happens when the front corner of a vehicle strikes another vehicle or object, such as a tree or utility pole, a very severe crash situation. In the test, 25 percent of the front end on the drivers side strikes a five-foot-high rigid barrier at 40 mph. Volvos safety cage features a robust design with a blend of different steel qualities. The new IIHS test program confirms the exceptional crashworthiness of this patented solution.

IIHS also introduced a new test program that rates the performance of front crash-prevention systems. This evaluation is incorporated into the Institutes 2014 Top Safety Pick+ rating. According to this extended scope, the S80, which is available with City Safety and Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian Detection, is among the car models with a 2014 Top Safety Pick+ rating.

City Safety, standard on S80, is a world-first technology that made its debut on the Volvo XC60. City Safety is a driver support system aimed at preventing or mitigating collisions with a vehicle ahead occurring at speeds of 31 mph or less. It utilizes a closing velocity sensor to help determine whether a collision is likely. Depending on the closing speed, City Safety will either pre-charge the brakes or automatically brake the S80 to help avoid a rear-end collision or lessen its impact."

your car got selected as Top Safety Pick+ or not?

your car got Autonomous Emergency Braking system like CitySafety or not?

if not, prease scrap your old technologies car [laugh]

Even camry and legacy were picked for that. If that makes you happy and old chassis makes you happy, go for it! Lol

You seem seriously smitten by the Mondeo. No other cars will be good enough for you, so it seems... even a 7er or S class.

My advice, go and negotiate hard with Regent and buy it. Its your money you are paying with... you should have the ultimate say in buying decision.

Then, after you buy the car, live with it no matter what. If really unbearble, change another one after 3-5 years. you will never be able to get the latest greatest unless you live in Germany or Europe where cars are developed and manufactured there. Just enjoy it and dont think so much.

Popped into RM today to get updates on pricing since COE on down trend. Found out that the next batch of Mondeos will be 1.5 Ecoboost 180ps engines. So sad.

Anyway the current best price is 156k. But I offered 140k for the sedan. Seems like it is possible to get this price. So am thinking of going there tomorrow to finalise. Anyone else wanna come along? I remember a member saying 140k is her target too. Last few units.

Only two 5 door units left but going for 5k more.

So it is now or never for the admirers. Perhaps the others prefer the 1.5 more.

You mean 2L ecoboast will no longer be brought in? That's very sad indeed.

Not sure how powerful 1.5l is but 2.0 is very shiok to drive.

What time are u going down ? Going for 4 door or 5?

Yes no more 2.0 will be brought in. Even the other SEs were disappointed. You can read the Jeremy Clarkson review of the 1.5 posted by one of the contibutors to this thread recently.

I am likely to be there around 10 to 1030 tomorrow morning. Am fine with the 4 door but trying to wrangle them for the 5door. There is one of each in the colour I want.

You wanna come along?

Adding 1.5 engine variant to the 2.0 or totally replacing the 1.5?

If it's the latter, then really performance wise, I think it's a step down. But it may attract those who don't mind sacrificing some power for a cheaper price tag, cheaper road tax and better FC.

Teik, you say 156k is current best price for the 5 dr? Then later you say it's 5k more? Confusing leh

Latest prices I heard:

4 door $143999.

5 door $148999.

Dropping the 2.0 proves they cannot make it in that segment.

Ya... The price sounds right.

Would moving to a lower cc help boost sales ?

If I can get 140k/142k for hatchback if I group book, can see how!... but anyway I can't go tomorrow...

IMO, real problem is that I was told the spec will also be reduced. and to me, the car is only specially interesting due to its long list of advanced equipment.

I echo 7hm's thought as well. Down specs it some more, than I will think it loses it unique proposition already. I think a 1.5 engine for this size of a car (OMG for the 1liter 3 cylinder version available elsewhere) I cannot relate/imagine how it will drive.

Thus, although I have still have 2 year n 2 mths left on my current Latio 5 dr, I booked a unit on Friday 😎 This is against my logical monetary judgement as I felt and believe that COE price will come down slowly but surely in the coming months.

Love the car n it's current specs. At it's current price, I think it's a pretty value for money n a reasonable proposition. Overall, very happy with my decision n my SE's service 👍

Perhaps the management base their decision on sales stats worldwide that 1.5 liter hit the sweet spot for majority of the market. Or perhaps once again they have to take whatever the factory can spare due to the forgettable numbers that they are selling in Singapore. Either way, it's a pity. After studying n looking at my shortlisted car choices, I have to say that Ford's offering generally hit the sweet spot between what you pay for and what you get.

Need to wait for Teik to check back in. Not sure if they bite his offer of 140k for the sedan 😓

Finger cross for him
