i used to own one and used to buy from a Company ; Hoover in Desker Road

The old man price quite cheaper than Regent  and send it to a workshop in Bukit Merah (quite near to Regent ) for fixing

Anyway my Mondeo lived to full 10 years and cheap to maintain; Had to scrap it 4 years back 'cos 10 years anyway

Only heavy cost (not really heavy) was the brake callipers (but the guy in Bt Merah) did a patch up on the 8/9th year since the car was already old

Only serviced at Regent for initial 3 years

Why don't just go to a parts stockist and get the parts you want? I asked the last time and there was someone who gave a whole list of Ford parts stockist in Singapore... I think it's somewhere on this thread...

I will be going for my final servicing at Regent Motors next year February and thereafter in March my 5 year warranty will be up. Just want to check with you guys, any parts to look out for that might be due to replace? (my mileage is around 80k) If got I want to try to highlight to them so that I can replace it during the warranty.

Thanks for your help

coolant expansion tank?

power steering pump?

engine mountings?

shock absorbers?

alternator?

battery?

aircon?

I don't think brake pad and rotors are covered under warranty over at Regent Motors. To be honest, I am more concerned with the engine transmission and gearbox as these are bigger ticket items. But dunno whether are they due to 'kee chia' or not. So far I have not encountered any symptoms yet.

5 years... any issue with car? Can you share if you think ford car is reliable?

So far, apart from the engine mounting & some crankshaft pulley in the engine was worn and was replaced, other than that nothing much else has broken down (yet).

For reliability, I would say it's in between Japanese & Conti cars. It's not like Toyota car's bullet proof reliability but it doesn't have issues frequently like some Conti cars. So long as you don't have itchy backside and mod this mod that, its basically very reliable.

At what mileage did you have your engine mountings and crankshaft pulley (is it the pulley or seal?) replaced?

80k mileage early days yet

The fundamental design of the current 2.0L EcoBoost can be traced to a Japanese design, and over the last few years the Ford drivetrains have developed a pretty decent reputation for reliability, so shouldn't be too bad.

Hi All,

Recently I've begun to hear a knocking sound while idling; both in gear and in neutral. The knocking sound could be loud sometimes, and could be soft at times. And sometimes its not there! I've tried to locate where the sound comes from, and it seems to be coming from underneath the central armrest and near bottom back of driver's seat.

I've sent it to Regent to check it out, but they couldn't locate the knocking sound even, and they've checked the car (even hoisted it up to check underneath, so they say). But the knocking sound is still there.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? On a separate issue, my car always takes quite some time for gear changing (from 1 to 2, and 2 to 3) and for acceleration; rpm always above 2000 before gear changes. Is the normal as well? After servicing the pick up and acceleration always seems smoother and faster, but it doesn't last beyond a few days. I'm driving a 1.5l ecoboost btw, 2.5 years car.

Thanks!

Could be oil leakage from the gearbox. Do a check in the morning to see whether any oil stain. I suggest you insist Regent to check and rectify before end of warranty. It will be very expensive to repair after out of warranty.

Oh I see... wah... what did they do?

checks all the IPC related functions like speedometer or tach reading, activate all telltales, sweep, etc.

Also seem to have a lot of debug info like the above... also interesting is it shows voltage...

Ford Plans $11.5 Billion in Extra Cuts, Kills Most U.S. Cars https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-25/ford-ceo-plans-11-5-billion-more-cuts-pulls-ahead-margin-goal

Basically the fiesta, taurus and fusion (aka mondeo) are dead.

While the japs are doubling down on making their sedans better and attractive to people who don't want crossovers.

Ford is going the true American corporate way. Just a cost calculator making decisions.
