Lyk76 Clutched June 1, 2016 Share June 1, 2016 90% of the time im slow and steady. only when I need to overtake or in a rush 90-100 on expressway. usually at the 2nd or 3rd lane. Esso Guess your drive must be quite jam free and 'siam' the peak traffic crowd... I always get caught in traffic jam at Lornie and PIE. My 1st 2 tank so far can only clock close to 800 (when the refuel light lit up). ↡ Advertisement

Lyk76 Clutched June 7, 2016 Share June 7, 2016 Any recommendation of the tire profile for 17' rim I find the 225/45/17 to be abit low, and had suffered scratch to the rear rim when turning tight radius. Any bro here tried any other profile tyre? And how is the ride?
teomingern 6th Gear June 7, 2016 Share June 7, 2016 The problem is not your tire profile. It's your driving style. Change to higher profile, you will still get the rim scratched. Better to adjust the driving style. And you can't alter the profile of the tire just like that. You have to check the width of your rim... if it's minimum 225 width, your profile is confirmed 45, max is 50... but your speedometer and odometer will be off. Yar, i do agree driving style do affect. But accident do occurs and i thought the profile change might helps as i do not have the prob when driving Axio.Just to add, the original rim was 16 but upgraded by agent to 17 for the SX version. So the speedo and odo shld have been taken care of.
teomingern 6th Gear June 7, 2016 Share June 7, 2016 The conversion is never exact when you move from 16 to 17 inch. But I think it's tolerable. You might want to downgrade to 16 inches, you can use up to 55 profile I think... it's much more comfortable. I'm also finding my 18 inch, 45 profile 235 mm tires rather hard... I think your Axio is much narrower. And also the window sills for the Toyota is much lower compared to the K3. Due to the sporty look, the windows are narrower, the door panel larger to give it the sloped fast back look of a sports sedan. Also less glass makes the body more rigid. The car feels stiffer and corners more sportily...
sk06 Neutral Newbie June 9, 2016 Share June 9, 2016 For those driving the Carens diesel version, can you get used to the "taxi" sound? Do you find the "taxi" sound irritating? I wonder will the sound get louder and louder as the car gets older.

I wonder will the sound get louder and louder as the car gets older.Yes, its louder than my previous petrol but i think it is still very bearable. The sound is much lower when cruising but noiser when heavy footed and during low gear. So far some of my colleague dun notice its a diesel until i tell them. I believe it may get louder as time goes but shld be manageable if properly maintained.
Andypcw Neutral Newbie June 9, 2016 Share June 9, 2016 (edited) I find the sound of the diesel engine rather negligible, and perhaps a bit softer than my previous ride (Qashqai+2). Of course in the morning when everything's quiet the "taxi" sound can be noticed if you listen carefully, but once you move off and hit above 30km/h or so you don't really hear it anymore. Heck..for the $200+ I save monthly pumping diesel compared to my previous ride..i don't mind the "taxi" sound at all even if it does become more obvious a few years down the road! I'm not a Carens owner but I would think the diesel clatter is only audible outside the car and not inside it or at least inside it's hardly noticeable?

smgdc Clutched June 12, 2016 Share June 12, 2016 For those using the Eurostyle HU, how to switch off the radio when using GPS? Do you find the GPS speed is different from the speed displayed in the car speedometer?
teomingern 6th Gear June 12, 2016 Share June 12, 2016 There should be some discrepancy. Your speedometer should be more accurate.
Apple-Tree 6th Gear June 12, 2016 Share June 12, 2016 Nope. Wrong. Speedometer on car usually has a built-in error of +5km/h as required by law in many countries like EU and US. The purpose is to ensure speed trap offences are reinforced properly without doubt. For example, if your speedometer is 90km/h, your actual speed is 85km/h. So when you are caught by speed trap, your speedometer is showing 95km/h for a 90km/h lor ...... no excuse to say you are "very sure" it is at the 90km/h. As a matter of facts, SG speed trap is 100km/h for a 90km/h. All Kia car has a been in 5km/h error. Honda did not implement for SG car. Not sure about the rest. As for GPS, the results also have a tolerance as the speed is Flight Speed and not Ground Speed. The difference is due to the terrain elevation. DOP, Course Non-Military application usually cannot get better than 10m resolution. But don't worry, when LTA implement the GPS based ERP in 2018, the resolution is going to be mm range. Yes. millimeter !!! Thanks to this technique called DGPS - Differential GPS. A few reference point in SG is marked and transmitting GPS signal, usually in Bukit Timah Hill and a few place in SG. If you see the GPS satellite constellation map , you will see a satellite no. 193, ya, that is the ground based GPS in SG for Geo-survey application. There should be some discrepancy. Your speedometer should be more accurate.
teomingern 6th Gear June 13, 2016 Share June 13, 2016 Well I'm not sure if this is so or not... my experience at the newest type of speed camera was that I was travelling at 90 km/h while the car was only slightly faster, most likely 95 cos it wasn't moving away fast and the speed camera triggered. Lyk76 Clutched June 15, 2016 Share June 15, 2016 Sharing some articles on the Kia Carens CRDI. Like the bright blue and shark fin antenna. Wonder why the C&C not bringing those version in.... http://www.autonet.com.tw/cgi-bin/view.cgi?/news/2016/6/b6060254.ti+a2+a3+a4+a5+b1+/news/2016/6/b6060254+/news/2016/6/15+b3+d6+c1+c2+c3+e1+e2+e3+e5+f1
teomingern 6th Gear June 17, 2016 Share June 17, 2016 (edited) Those options cost money I guess... shark fin antennas don't always have the best radio reception. I also noticed that the ADs always bring in the dull colours from white to grey to silver... the brighter bolder colours they don't seem keen to bring in. I wanted red for my Sonata but they don't bring it in. Must indent which means must wait and then must pay more cos my old car's trade in value will drop by then... so dumb.
