Lyk76 Clutched May 10, 2016 Share May 10, 2016 Comparing Wish with Carens, I personally would choose Carens, not because I already driving the diesel version now but for the following reasons. 1. I like the width of the vehicle, able to sit 3 comfortably 2. Vehicle though heavy but it gives a very stable feel and doesnt lack power. 3. It has many features like a conti car which spice up the drive and during family outing with kids. 4. The car is well equipped with the accessories, touch screen entertainment HU, solar film, bluetooth, gps navi, spare tire, tonneu cover. Basically nothing much to add in my opinion. 5. My diesel FC is about 8L/100km not sure why as it was like 6.8-7/100km intitially when still using the diesel when I collected the car. The jump was after I refuel at SPC and doesnt seems to go back to 7L/100km range. Hope things will turn out better after the 1000km servicing. 6. 3 row is basically for kids and not full sized adult. As I only need the 3rd row ocassionally so it is ok for me. As for the Wish, I think it is typically a no frill car. There is not much 'wow' factor as compared to Carens except the 3 row has better spacing. The booth are also slightly bigger when 3rd row is up. Think the Wish may surpass Carens in terms of resale, reliability and maybe cheaper maintenance due to the quantity.

Even though I have secured the Carens, I think Wish from Japan is getting very competitive as price has been falling. I remember during $60-70K COE period, Wish was being quoted at >$130K. Recently at Car expo, Borneo motors was willing to discuss at $110K (before hard negotiation). Furthermore, the entertainment HU seems to be much more upgraded now. Mazda 5 is similar case (and sliding doors).

I am also attracted to carens looks, frugality, specs but when u see alot of SLA and SLB wish on the road, it makes you wonder on after sales maintenance..
Apple-Tree 6th Gear May 10, 2016 Share May 10, 2016 (edited) Yes. Tomorrow LTA will update last month numbers. Then we will know if they are still selling 12 carens every month. Just a comparison, the previous Carens (UN), at its height, 1800 Carens on the roads. Or about 30 Carens sold every month. If it don't sell well, it affect resale value and spare part is going to be harder to get. You all want to know what C&C did to Citroen GC4 ? For the last 3 months, they sold exactly 50 units, every month. Quota System Play. Good wife vs pretty wife theory. Baal Supersonic May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 I think its also coz, esp for the wish, its at its 8th year, since 2009.Mz5 also ageing model. As & when wish launch new model, its business as usual.
Yysiong 3rd Gear May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 I think its also coz, esp for the wish, its at its 8th year, since 2009. Mz5 also ageing model. As & when wish launch new model, its business as usual. The thing is, wish makes some minor facelift, and some cosmetic changes to the dashboard. Other than that, the mechanical part of the car remain unchanged. Like an altis. Which, makes the car very predictable. Even if touch wood spoil in jb, any workshop has parts and can service How i wish carens has been selling 100 a month, then at least WS has more experience. Looking at commiting to either 1 by end of the year. Hope to hear more good review and no negative feedback from carens user here...
Shawntcl 1st Gear May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 (edited) My last post here. Decided on XT instead and gotten COE on 1st bidding. Carens is a attractive option in the current compact MPV market. But concerns on resale and spares due to low demand, and lack of SX variant in petrol version made me think twice and look elsewhere. Thank you for those bros that help answer my queries earlier on. Wish you have a safe ride always. Edited May 11, 2016 by Shawntcl
