for me, i took Orlanda cos managed to get no loan, 10 years running cost about the same as caren Ex but caren does have more features below.

Keyless engine start

Auto headlights

Front proximity sensors

Remote boot release

DRL

Multizone AC

Drive Eletric Seat

Leather steering wheel

Projection headlamp

Eco mode

Auto headlight off after park

Some niche human touch

But one other thing, Caren's interior although nicely divided for 2nd row, i do find it squeezy and as a heavy driver, driver compound is a little cramp for me.

Exterior wise, Carens front looks like cherry QQ, too tame for my liking and around a little to soft image for me.

Drive wise, no other car in the same category price bracket can challenge the 340NM torque i think. It climb so effortlessly. If you tested at Alexandra, you will be lead to to climb a small high at labrador park entrance.

I tested that climb on my orlando 1st day i got my car, Orlando can fell a little struggle, meaning its smaller turbo engine needs to work harder compared to Caren's 1.7 TDI

So, if you are taking loans + have a family whom is regular sized and don't mind the exterior of Caren, its a good buy.

my XXL family prefers the bigger interior of Orlando.

Be reminded that if doing 150km per year, 10 years TCO Works out to be similar.

150km a year is like 0.5km a day

The problem with Orlando is that it spoils easily when it hits 5 year old.

Things simply spoil and workshop trips r required

As the diesel version was launched this yr, most would have taken the AD package so as not to void warranty. Understand the normal package for 2yr 4 times servicing is abt 1.4k. So do ur sums if u wan the warranty or to save on cheaper servicing outside.

Hi everyone, jus got my new caren sx last wed, very happy with the power n the fuel consumption, very stable n firm driving at high speed. I hv a question for those who hv got the car, what is the mileage when collection of the new car?

Got my SX today, fuel consumption indeed impressive with abt getting ard 15-17km/l or better travelling from Pandan to Parkway and from Parkway to AMK. The ride is stable feels good. My milleage was also 12km when collecting the car

I am thinking longer term, after the free servicing.... I am looking for the table ( milleage vs item to be changed/ serviced). Can be found either in the owner's manual or the maintenance booklet. I am not familiar with the items to be serviced for diesel engine. That's why wish to have a look at it. Gam SIa!

Kia no longer selling petrol version anymore.

If you getting caren, its currently the most cost efficient MPV on the market if you are looking at 2 airbags unless you looking at not taking loan completely which C&C is not willing to do much on this area.

And doesn't mind its looks,

Wow! i am surprised! Means the CRDi version is by far more popular choice

Take a look at lta statics, Caren sell only 10plus per mth only! Sales really bad!

The interior build quality is good but the features of this car are really lacking which make me look else where

If the only 10plus a Q, they are worse than renault grand scenic

Have you actually made a study of the features? The SX model is full of features... it's competitive with the other similar sized MPVs... and for less money...

The mid-szed MPV is essentially a niche product... I don't expect many to buy it... but you may see more on the road when C&C starts delivering more cars... I think most successful buyers are simply waiting for delivery...

I am now waiting for my 6th and last non guaranteed bid. If C&C cannot secure, it is adios to my dreams for a Kia Carens. Will be looking at Wish or Jade.

Oh? You refuse to top up I guess? I think can negotiate. See if they willing to give you Open Category COE lor... each side give in a bit... you top up a bit, they give you Open Category COE then you get your car and they make a sale. Not bad I guess...

You go and compare with Grand C4, you will know what feature Caren are lacking.

U signed up during CNY promo for the non-guarantee? Maybe talk to the sales how much to top-up to get the COE. They can get open Cat for ya also. Cos looking at the price hike right now from feb CNY. I'm sure it's still pretty much worth the top-up.

Happen to learn from my sales when I went down to make the deposit that one of her customer paid a top-up of 4K to get their SX cos theirs also non-guarantee package.

You need to have guts and deep pocket to drive a grand C4.

And grand c4 has 15k cevs while caren only 5k. Depreciation, maintenace wise, caren is better

Of coz, space, interior,features,3rd row air con, grand c4 wins all car.

But.. they only sell 50 a month.. too little for such a car.. 1 year.only 600...spare parts sure problem

Play the patience game with dealers, don't ever top up, you don't lose anything but they will lose the deal.

At most no car for few months and build up some savings.
