7hm Turbocharged June 14, 2015 Share June 14, 2015 I am actually seen a lot of parents playing cartoon through the overhead monitor for their kids to watch, which definitely not good for the eye. It's either that... or risk your $1,000 iPad/Galaxy Tab (or other... but let's face it these are the only two brands of tablet in common use) ↡ Advertisement

Ericongy 3rd Gear June 18, 2015 Share June 18, 2015 I did, however, decided to go with Mazda 5 instead of Kia Caren. Good choice bro. I believe you got it at 135k, 3 year warranty and no free servicing? was considering carens, wish and Mz5. all 3 r good choice for a small mpv, but I think carens give us the least depreciation with good specs. Mz5 is the only one that comes with sliding doors and moonroof, but 2 airbags. so when u collecting your new ride?

Sabian Turbocharged June 18, 2015 Share June 18, 2015 No need lah. Search for for other videos of crash test. Got a few passenger cells still intact after small overlap crash. Frontal crash is almost perfected by all reputable car mfgs.

Mz5 is the only one that comes with sliding doors and moonroof, but 2 airbags. so when u collecting your new ride? Collecting it next week. Took the demo unit at abt $125k. Free 3(1,5,10) servicing and 3 years warranty. Trade it my current ride which left less than 6 month on the COE. Heard from inside source, more difficult to bargain now as Mazda is selling well, especially Mazda 3 and 6 !! My experience with free servicing is that, it is not exactly FREE!! You still have to pay for brake pads, ac filter, etc. So best took the basic. I was offered 3 year servicing for additional $1000 but I decline as servicing done outside by your own mechanic is more thorough and took less time, plus cost at least 20-30 % lesser. I test drove Caren and Wish. Was not willing to pay ($25K) more for Wish - Toyota Salesman say -PREMIUM Brand thats why cost more. Caren was quite good, nimble and responsive, third row was ok for kids. HU is crap but other than that it is ok. My family was sold to Mazda mainly due to the sliding door and moon roof, plus the over head display and free solar film (rik cool). Fuel economy I think it will about the same as my nissan - not that great but not that bad. It is heavy and Japanese built.

I think the demo unit is just a gimmick, only 2 showrooms in sg, where got so many demo units. I think they probably allow 1 SE to sell 1 "demo" unit. so u r probably getting a brand new ride. anw, at 125k is good value. I would even take their test drive unit if the price is right and I really like the sliding doors and moonroof too. honestly, both wish and Mz5 interior really inferior to carens and if I am correct, KIA can local fit pioneer HU for customers. Xman13 1st Gear June 18, 2015 Share June 18, 2015 Thanks for your updates and sharing bro. So far I only test drive Wish and Carens, havent try Mazda 5 yet, how was the test ride in term of pick up and stability? Wish is abit underpowered as compared to Kia Carens and Mazda. Car was load up with 3 adults and 3 kids during all the test. Best pick up would be Caren. Road noise insulation both KIA and Mazda is ok. WISH is terrible, also has only one AC at the front. Kia and Mazda has AC on the second row, All seems quite stable. Easy on the humps. You have to assess what you really need. In term of long term cost, WISH likely to be cheaper in maintainance cost(but your already paid more than $20k Upfront- cost abt $20k more than Kia and Mazda). It is alot of money. I drove my current car for 9.5years and hope this will last the same.
Sunset73 5th Gear June 23, 2015 Share June 23, 2015 Anybody buying this car? I been thinking through.. I love this car.. but the specs are so..... poor as compared to their other models such as Sorento or K3. That's a bummer.. and they are not selling very cheap. I have owned the 2nd Gen Carens for close to 8 years already, loved every bit of the car, but for me to commit to the new Carens, a bit not worth it

KIA Caren with this spec is not worth the price. That is why I bought MAZDA 5 instead .... cost about the same ... but better spec and built... got free solar film ... pioneer hu and overhead display. MPV don't seem to cater to a large crowd of potential buyers in the market.. Mostly going for sedans or 5-seater hatchbacks (Correct me if I am wrong). That's C&C focus I feel. If based on a full spec-ed Caren selling the price of a VW Touran, which will the general public buy? I bet many will flock to VW showroom instead. For me, of course Carens Edited June 24, 2015 by Sunset73

Compare to others competitor like Wish or Mazda 5. Go to Mazda show room u can get Mazda 5 at at $130k - $132k ... but thats include PIONEER HU and solar film. So if it is reflected at $5000 or less profit margin for KIA - then not possible unless their car selling so well they are willing to take small profit per car and make it up with high numbers of Kia on the road. Numbers of KIA Caren cars are still small, infact overall Kia is not as big as Toyota, Nissan and Mazda. Looking at road now... Mazda presence is there... the new Mazda 3 and 6 are competitively price, looks very attractive too... seeing hoards or soul red mazda .. mazda 6 wagon "soul red" looks great ... Just by looking at this text, I suspect another anti Korean troll is here... :( The Mazda 6 station wagon is so damn rare in SG, and you said its popular with 'hoards' of them on the road. And the $$ remains so high Pioneer HU damn big deal izzit? Its an aftermarket unit anyway and you can buy it from any audio installers in SG. You are comparing aftermarket units with factory fitted units? ↡ Advertisement
