I was looking at Subaru Levorg GT-S 1.6 FC 7.4L/100 KM vs Caren 1.7 SX Diesel 5.2L/100km. My FC is based on manufacturer figures. $1.89 /L RON 95 Petrol vs $1.18 diesel. I took the difference in running cost for each car x 20,000 km average usage, which gave approx $1100 fuel savings (nett off road tax diff which is $774/yr). Of course that's all conservative as you should use RON 98 minimum for petrol turbo cars so savings should be higher.

Oic.

Im 30k p.a, guess i can save maybe 1.5k anf above.

Tried the caren, the 1.7 turbo diesel is as good as a 2.4l car

I was told by SE that petrol cars with turbo should use min RON 98 or it could be bad for the engine... don't know how true but that's the explaination.

Small turbo petrols can use 95 generally. But just refer to manual in doubt.

Most of the world's petrol stations don't have premium petrol.

Want to find out something, I tried my Bluetooth with the eurostyle unit and I can connect, call out and receive calls but the major problem is I can hear others but my microphone doesn't seem to be working. I'm using an Android phone. Did I miss out any settings or anything. Thanks.

This star letter came out in the Aug 2016 BMW Car magazine in favor of the Carens over the 216GT.

You mean that the person on the other end can't hear you? Is your audio jack plugged in with ear phones or a line out cable? Have you tried to do a call test and change to speaker on your phone? Might be a software issue...

I have the same problem too. The mic doesn't seem to pick up voice well. I had to shout so that the other party could hear me.

Do what my brother did... he did a excel spreadsheet and present to my SIL how much they will save with Carens Diesel.

And they went to sign for that car that very day.... [smash]

Hahaha... your brother would have saved even more if he went car lite :~)

Ha... It was part of his consideration. But the opportunity cost and inconvenience of not having a car completely outweighs the monetary savings if he went car-lite. The Carens was also used by him to deliver goods at times as well.

Mine working fine so far. No issue calling and listening to my phone music.

I'm using iPhone 6s.

Can try with different OS phone just to check if same result. If still same then may be the installer did not install the mic properly in the first place or faulty unit. Need to identify the fault and fix.

Same issue with my android phone. Call volumes are really soft. Went back for my 1000 km servicing yesterday and was advised to go to Eurostyle's main office at Bedok area.

The other issue I have with the HU is being unable to randomise songs within the same folder on a thumbdrive. When random is selected, it randomises the entire contents of the drive.

Car-wise, no complaints. I'm doing around 6.7L/100km on average. Eco mode mostly switched on unless I have a full load, 70% highway and on Shell diesel.

I have finally got it fixed. I send the carens in for 1k servicing and got the mechanics to fix the mic. Now it is working.

I think this is a limitation of the HU. My unit on the Sonata has this limitation also.

Why Shell diesel... is there a difference in Shell performance? Thanks.

BTW, just got my COE today.... can't wait to get my hands on the car!
