ling9986 Neutral Newbie April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 Orlando is petrol or diesel? If petrol, then Carens Diesel will be paying much higher road tax per year. petrol, yah Vwguy77 has already taken that into consideration. ↡ Advertisement
Shawntcl 1st Gear April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 (edited) petrol, yah Vwguy77 has already taken that into consideration. Sorry, my bad. Didn't see properly. I'm thinking with the idea of buying a new car and stick with it for 10 years. One of my consideration about diesel is the diesel tax. Carens is euro vi compliance, therefore currently enjoy low diesel tax. In cases where Singapore moves beyond euro vi compliance, the diesel tax payable for Carens might go up significantly (like those below euro iv compliance vehicles now) Of cos, this is based on my assumption, we dunno which direction the government policy will go. Forte3737 5th Gear April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 Based on CO2 and weight, the FC should be on the high side but better than my 191g/km Carens (UN). C&C only sold 84 KIA MPV last year. For Jan, 9P3D Carens, For Feb, 2P8D Carens. Anyway, I don't think it is a KIA issue, at least I am currently driving a Carens and did NOT need to repair GB EVERY 2 YEARS. I find KIA surprisingly OK, not much issue except ABS, Airbag, which is minor, I can even fixed it myself. Which I did. And thanks all the bro and sis here for bringing up the DCT issue. I can't afford this kind of reliability schedule lor. But internet said, KIA ownself design the DCT GB, and the 7DCT is the second design after the 6DCT ?? Not sure. As of today, no reported issue. Look see mode. Still got time ... not in the hurry to spend ... heeee How you fix abs issue?
Baal Supersonic April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 For mazda, i believe the 2.0 sky g petrol, applied on mpv models are retuned to 12:1 compression. Though absolute ps/nm is lower, onset of torque should b earlier, which suits an mpv.
Apple-Tree 6th Gear April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 My case is intermittent, which is very dangerous, imagine it kick in when not needed, the car will wobble and the braking distance increase by a few times, maybe. Almost bang into a Jaguar. Or I have actually bang the Jaguar but the driver did not notice and drove off ...... heee. I have no equipment, so I listen which wheel has the ABS pumping. Buy parts, remove wheel, replace the sensor. Problem solved. Anyway, the sensor is so cheap (USD30) from www.koraps.com that I change all. And the sensor I first changed, Front-Left Wheel, which is clearly stated in the Kia Rondo USA recalled. So reading up US vehicle recall also helps. If you also encounter intermittent issue, I strongly recommend you disable ABS by disconnecting any one of the sensor. Find the fault and fixed it. Because if it kick in when not needed, the braking distance increase and it front wheel, the car will slay left or right due to uneven braking. Or try to get it fixed immediately. Another way to fix it ? Removed the ABS Indicator lamp lor ........ hahaha ...... How you fix abs issue?
Deividz 5th Gear April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 I think the Carens is a good car but the pricing is abit ridiculous compared to the Wish. I'll buy if SX is below 100k.

What is the type of sound that will emit when ABS is working? Stationary or on the move when u do the listening? Victor68 Turbocharged April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 2 colleagues just got a Wish for below 95k. Comparatively, you don't find Carens overpriced? BM wish is $108K and PI maybe around $95K. They are petrol 1.8 and the interior finishing average. Exterior has not change much from previous design. These are the major draw back in my opinion. The Caren on the other hand beats the Wish hands down for interior and exterior. The petrol version is 2.0 litre and diesel is 1.7, both have higher power than the Wish. Overall, it is definitely a better specs car than Wish, did I miss anything? The only set back for Caren is the badge and uncertainty with their engine, especially diesel. Whilst the petrol version will be a drinker in my opinion. Caren is in the market for many years, I want to believe it cannot be always in the workshop for a car that sells well here. In Singapore context, definitely you would have more problem selling your Caren than Wish. It is just the Singaporean mentality. It will takes another generation to change this. Apple-Tree 6th Gear April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 We should start a DIY thread, I afraid we will be "hammered" ..... heee The ABS pumping is quite a loud tick tick tick sound, the chassis will also vibrate with the same. When the car is moving. If you can hear stereo sound, the result is quite distinct. You don't need to be specially trained. I did not check the loop current for open circuit or short at first, because if it is a loop current fault, it will be flagged immediately on startup. It turn out the resistance is the same. Most car has a 2 step evaluation of ABS by ECU/BCM. On startup, stationary, it evaluate the ABS sensors. As you move off, after 10~20km/h and no braking. The controller will evaluate the ABS Sensor-Actuators. - It is a very very faint ticks. Because of this 2 steps eval, you can roughly guess which is at fault - Sensor or Actuator or Controller. On when the ABS light up. If it is a sensor fault, it will continue to evaluate at every driving cycle or so, until resolved. When not sure what to change, start with cheap parts then work your way up. Here are the most common step to fix ABS. Bleed your brake line (remove air) -> Resit connectors of ABS -> Change sensor -> change actuator/controller. I learnt to DIY quite a few things, from window assembly, fuel pump, ICE, Airbag, brake pad, brake hose. As long as it can be done between sunrise to sunset and save money. it is interesting to me. I'm amazed and curious to know how you listen which wheels is diagnosed faulty ABS speed sensor? What is the type of sound that will emit when ABS is working? Apple-Tree 6th Gear April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 Not sure how your friend got this deal. Also looking at the reliable Wish. BM published price 112, reach shop 107. After some discount here and there 102. And OUT OF STOCK. Even that pearl white display set (no test drive car) have a big red label marked SOLD. New stock available End-May if booked 2~3 weeks ago. BM said it take about a MONTH to PROCESS the CAR wor ..... when reach SG. Back log .... wah. Business is good for them. The selling champion, almost every 1 in 2 car sold is a TOYOTA lor. "FREE" ICE-GPS, 3M . Should ask for SOUND PROOFING, the engine roar when moving off. They bought it from Borneo.
