Shawntcl 1st Gear March 7, 2016 Share March 7, 2016 Read it on Hyundai Korea official website. Ok noted. Read an article that ComfortDelGro bought 3000 i40s to be delivered in 2015. Not sure whether those are fitted with DCT. Even if its fitted with DCT, these i40 could be still under monitoring, as they haven't reach high mileage yet. ↡ Advertisement

Apple-Tree 6th Gear March 9, 2016 Share March 9, 2016 (edited) Hi, I just sign up yesterday as Apple-Tree, driving everyday for me is like a F1 race,I need to cross the ERP before it lightup and at 60km/h. My current ride is a Carens (UN), my first Korean car and it won't be my Korean car. Even in 2008, I thought that Korean car have indeed come of age. And as life is short I try to not drive the same model again, yes, to drive as many models of car as possible before I die !!! This new Carens (RP) is probably going to be an exception. I have shortlisted this car as a possible ride for the next decade. And I don't work for C&C. I think they are probably better at selling Mercedes which is their strong point. Or maybe they have improved. I think the best part of this New Carens U2 1.7L Diesel (RP) have been mentioned already. Their U2, Nu and Theta engine are well known and field tested. As for the DCT, it is actually a Reliability Technology, it is like Dual Clutching method in a manual gearbox for smooth gear change and sync up the engine rev and wheel speed. I have test drive the new Carens EX U2, and here are the issues : a) Still too heavy - listed wrongly as 1649kg by C&C on Sgcarmart. It is actually 1525kg. Wish is 1370kg, Mobilio is 1100kg. If you are a Mobilio owner it is like driving with 8 packs of 50kg Cement. b) Seat Belt - Mid row centre passenger need to wear a seat belt to be pull in from the 3rd row. If we all follow the rule, you will see the seat belt dangling across the whole view. Very odd seat belt. To pass NCAP requirement. c) A Difficult 3rd Row - Harder to enter than before, and the worst part if I seat into the 3rd row, my head will hit the ceiling rim to the tail gate. I am 1.7m tall. No rear aircon again for EX model. d) 13.2L/km - This is what was displayed on the dashboard. C&C could have done a better job resetting the FC meter every morning. It is a test drive car, no highway no constant speed. I am not hammering C&C on this. I also test drive the Mobilio, started as 6.4L/100km and ended with 6.5L/100km. It is a weight issue. Really need to investigate further. e) CO2 emission 135g/km - C&C listed as 127g/km (Tested by Manufacturer) but LTA tested as 135g/km. After the Tesla case, I doubt LTA know HOWTO measure CO2 emission. It is a world class embarrassment indeed. Also C&C need to be more forthcoming on the rating. If you check sgcarmart seller, most AD list AS-TESTED-BY-LTA rating. 135g/km is abit on the high side for diesel. It is 1g away from losing the CEVS rebate. Can C&C get KIA to tune the ECU to 120g/km to get more rebate ? f) No Rear Camera - Probably the only MPV to sell without a Rear Camera in SG. This is not AirAsia. It is a 100K car. I really don't know how to drive a MPV without camera. I need to put up another 2K??, is it that difficult to put a ICE. It is like going to a 10 course dinner with no chopstick. Or simply, I am a lousy driver. Maybe I am abit bias, but I have shortlisted this car already. Can I live with it ? I am really not sure. Please comment. For FC, test drives are too short to determine the real world figure. Not sure if you have read the earlier reviews by forummers who have actually collected and driven their new Carens. They are reporting like 800km for a full tank.
Apple-Tree 6th Gear March 10, 2016 Share March 10, 2016 Yes. I saw that impressive number and a many pictures are really worth a thousand words. According to many car reviewers in UK they are experiencing between 5~7L/100km which is inline with the number reported here. The concern here is that as I mentioned, the Kah Mobilio test drive car show a 6.4L/100km which tally to the spec of 6.2L/100km. I totally agree with you, test drive is test drive, but to see 13.2L/100km is simply too high. Most likely the car is idling more time as SE need to explain the features, TCSS etc. It will be good if some member here can post a test drive FC here, perhaps it will clear up thing a bit. Anyone going to a test drive ? If the FC is too high before the test drive just reset and take a photo at the end of test drive. For FC, test drives are too short to determine the real world figure. Shawntcl 1st Gear March 10, 2016 Share March 10, 2016 (edited) Guys, I have verified and confirm local i40 and optima taxis are not using DCT. C&C has no plans of upgrading petrol EX to SX. Petrol variant may be discontinued. Edited March 10, 2016 by Shawntcl

However, 13.3km/L is good, but not wonderful number. some petrol car can achieve that figure. also u cant totally trust ppl who post their FC pic online. they can easily reset their meter just before going up expressway, and take a pic of their FC once they stop at the first traffic light after exiting expressway. I done that before, reset the meter before i enter PIE at TPY drive 80-90kmh all the way to NUS... after exit, meter read 24km/L...hahaha.... but i not so free take pic and post online n bulls**t to ppl how good my car FC is.. just do it for fun

Jaskin 2nd Gear March 10, 2016 Share March 10, 2016 The reason I was given when I saw the Sorento Diesel was that their cars are always idle for a long time in the morning for warm up, waiting to customers to get in the test drive cars etc. Hence the FC is shitty on the test drive vehicles. bro, 13.2L/100km for a diesel car is ridiculous. you double check again. i think the meter should read 13.2km/L. one bro here mentioned full tank can clock 800km. fuel tank for carens should be around 60L. 800km/60l is 13.3km/L. so its about right.
