Some more diesel no sparkies to change. But dunno how affordable or ex is diesel maint package compared to petrol. Is it also at 10k km interval?

Spark plugs are cheap and last a long time. Even regular plugs easily last 20-30k km. The iridium plugs last easily 100k. Plugs are the least of your concern with regards to cost

Looks like different for 2.0 petrol and 1.7 diesel is $5k atm.

for clocking 1500km per month, U could save about 1.5k - 2k per year.

here the calculation:

Using today Shell pump price: diesel @ $1.06; Fuel safe 95 @ $1.86

Assuming diesel fc @ 17km/L and petrol @ 10km/L

Diesel : 1500/17*$1.06 = $93

Petrol : 1500/10*1.86 = $279

save $186 per month. Year is $2232.

Mileage per year is 18k, need 2 servicing, part aside $500 extra for diesel servicing just in case if is more expensive.

And minus $300 extra for expensive diesel road tax, U can save about $1500 per year.

And insurance for low cc should be cheaper. Save further.

X10 years !!!

Should be able to justify for $5k diff between 2.0 petrol and 1.7 diesel.

And if U love the extra torque power on diesel engine!!!

Tks for the efforts in calculating. I doubt if a diesel can give u 70% better FC. I mentioned before I get 30% better n I'm sure those driving more highways may get better but at most will be 40-50% more but don't think anything more than that is achievable, my 2 cents n guess need more feedback from those who switched from petrol to diesel to give comments.

What is not mentioned is the need to replace the NOx reduction. Some brands use AdBlue like Peugeot and Citroen. Also known more generally as selective catalytic reduction. It's a consumable. Renault uses a different method. They use NOx traps. So there are no consumables to replace.

Most diesel run cars tend to have this 'sourish' smell in the cabin after a while. Perhaps this is due to the diesel itself.

I am comparing this with petrol run cars with taxis together with my colleague's Renault Scenic which is 2 years old and runs on diesel.

And no, I don't mean the sweat smell from our bodies, but the smell of the fuel.

Kia pricing not consistent throughout. Someone in the Sorento thread said Kia gave him 4K +4K discount even without taking loan or trade in car. So unfair for those forced to take up loan and trade in car.

People can write what they want, end of the day buyer has to decide whether they can accept the price tag else just walk.

Sorento is a different car, on a different price bracket. There are many factors that drive the sale.

It is depend on the SE whether he want to ask their boss. But having said that, C&C Leng Kee is very difficult to nego on the trade in and the loan. but for the fulco Ubi, you can try. it is easier to nego on the trade in discount. they will give you the 4K discount even you don't trade in your car.

Hang on... you said Fulco Ubi & C&C Leng Kee... are these two competing authorised dealers or are they the same company?

Actually i did went Fulco Ubi to test drive K5 and i ask the SE, he told me that C&C authorised them to sell KIA. so I think Fulco Ubi is like 'sub contractor' to C&C. And i did test them and ask if i don't have car to trade in since i am going to buy my first car then i cannot enjoy the additional 4K discount is it? then the SE said he can help me to nego with his supervisor. I think mostly can get the additional 4K discount even you don't trade in the car.
