Hi TS, enjoy the new ride. Dont worry unduly over the DSG issue. If the problem comes, then think of the solution.

As other brothers have pointed out, Premium Automobile after-service support is quite good.

By the way, I am driving a A3 Sportsback 1.8. It is awesome. :)

Got the a3 sedan for about a week now. It is an awesome car, the same opinion as you. I am really enjoying this car inspite of what the naysayers said and that's what really matters. I think i am gonna to save 30% fuel cost with this car on top of the performance improvement over a bb jap/kor car.

How different does the A3 dsg feel compared to a normal Auto GB? Or is it pretty much the same, just wondering?

DSG is very good to drive, gearchange very fast & sharp,it will not "Slip" like normal Autobox.. [blush] also very smooth...Modern Autobox is a bit better, due to the "Lock-Up" very fast, but still cannot match the DSG,"Direct" drive.

How much does your full tank go?

60 litres of petrol can let me go to about 620km to 650km. That is about 10km/l - 11km/l. This is good for me because there is no compromise of power and the FC is considered reasonable.

I was with one of my friends collecting Camry 2.5. Just after the collection and just outside the collection centre itself, car was found to be veering so much to the left (Balancing issue).

Believed this to be an inherent problem with Camry. My close to 10 year old Camry used to have this problem. Regardless of how many alignment I did, it still veer to 1 side. However, after a recent shock absorber/absorber mounting change, the problem went away! Had not surfaced since. Suggest go back BM and get them to rectify.

Supercharged

tiagong A3 mapping for the GB is different from Jetta although both using DQ200..

think it helps to prolong the clutch durability..

My own experience, compared to my previous 1.6L car with 5AT, it is a whole lot of difference. How do I describe dsg...the main difference I can tell is when moving off from stationary the car accelerates effortlessly in one continuous smooth motion without any perceivable power loss when the gear change. It also picks up speed pretty quick due to the turbo engine with high torque at low 1.5k rpm.

I think the A3 tank is 50 litres + couple extra for reserve. My first tank using the good old pump reading was about 18.5km/l (~890km with pump topup at 48L with gauge at reserve). On board ECU showed 19.4km/l This was with lots of non peak traffic driving around town+expressway (after I got the car :D ).

Second tank is more indicative as it was for mostly commuting to work with 30/70 (city/e-way) peak hour traffic. The tally is about 16.5 km/l.

Wow, fantastic FC. The A3 sedan is like a hybrid vehicle. I was driving a Honda Civic Hybrid and I didn't get such good FC!

You must either be light-footed or the FC of new cars nowadays really tok gong.

Haha. [:)]

I have a problem with my ride and I searched this forum and it seems to be quite prevalent in Audi cars.

My car consume engine oil quite fierce. Servicing was done and after 2000km, the minimum engine oil light came on so went to the workshop to do a top-up and check. No leakage so still monitoring.

Forced to be light footed. In Singapore traffic how to be heavy footed as traffic in front is always at crawling speed. Also the a3 I have has the 1.4L engine tuned down to 125hp for frugality instead of performance.

I'll keep a close watch on mine whether it will consume oil. So far didn't see any change in oil level after about 2 weeks of lots of driving.

I try to be light-footed as well but sometimes difficult.

Haha. My A3 1.8 is MTM stage 1 tuned so the bhp is 200. I find it very responsive and power-packed.

So, for a bhp 200 turbo-charged car, I can still get 10km/l, it is not too bad for me already.

Does the A3 come with those switch where you can turn down the engine response? Kind of like the eco mode on the beemer?

First tank I pumped 95 but now 98 after someone said it is safer to pump 98 for for turbo.

Mine didn't come with drive select option. Only normal and sports mode. Using normal most of the time.

I pump V-Power Racing and I find that there is difference. The drive is more responsive. However mileage not much of a difference.

I think for me 98 gives better mileage.

Early this morning after dropping wife off I took the car out for a spin mostly on expressway. ECU showed i have done about 90km at avg speed of 68km/h and FC of 23.4km/l.

I did not get this good with 95 before.

Turbocharged

Based on personal experience, ECU may not give accurate fuel readings.

Best to pump till full and take km travelled divide by litres consumed.
