Power seat switch on the door, only Mercedes Benz...

Also for the dry clutch DSG,those who like to go Johor often, where jams can be up to 3 hours, will risk the clutch wear off even faster....because when idling in "D" mode, the clutch is engaged[so that the car can creep slowly],thus alot of heat is produced,+ hot weather...make it worse.. [thumbsdown]

This is not true. When idling in D the clutch is disengaged. When you lift off the brake pedal, the clutch engages and then the car creeps.

Ok had the A3 sedan for about 2 days now, Minor "blues" (up to now) are:-

- The MMI screen cannot display chinese characters. Also mp3 album art size is like postage stamp size. I can't believe in this day and age this is still happening. I was hunting for the USB port but there is none to be found, Only have a sdcard slot,

- Got the crap continental CP5 tyres which give out a bit of noise over rough surface. Maybe I'll try lowering the pressure to see whether it is better

- A bit irritating in slow traffic in 2nd or 3rd gear and lift the foot off the accelerator and you can feel the engine braking like driving a manual.

But on a brighter note, this car is really very frugal in FC. I topped up fuel until pump stopped. The LED fuel gauge has 8 discrete steps. Did a lot driving around (normal non-peak traffic and light footed). At first I thought the gauge was faulty as I was like 250km in and the gauge didnt budge. It finally drop a step (i.e. 1/8) at about 270km. It drop another 1/8 at 380km. The trip computer shows I am getting 21.6km/liter. Anyway I'll hold off my surprise until my next fuel top-up to get a more accurate final tally.

beware!!!Don't buy this car! U will regret

Not the DSG again?

Haiz, my main new car blues is that after so many cars and working years, I still have not had a chance to collect a new car. [bigcry]

What to do, in a country where over USD100k is considered a 'steal' for an A3.

Think I shared this b4 but I can't find the thread. I enjoy sharing this story because I haven't heard anyone else who faced the same.

On day of collection, checked the usual stuff off a checklist. When my wife opened the rear door to get in we encountered a fist sized mass orgy of ants between the seats and the curved wheel arch area. The SE behind us gave a stifled yelp when we backed off to let her have a look.

She spent a good 5 mins discussing with her colleagues on how to get rid of them, knowing if you disturbed them they will panic and crawl all over the car.

So finally a brave SE took a wet cloth and with all of us standing in a solemn semicircle behind him, took a deep breath and on a count of 3, took a quick wipe down of the mass of ants onto the floor.

Some ants managed to escape the apocalypse and even after a month of driving I was still being bitten occasionally by some survivors.

Eventually they died out and that was the last I saw of them.

The car was from a Jap brand AD so probably those were Samurai ants...quite nasty bites from them but they were black ones so at least not as painful as those red ones.

Years ago, one of my colleagues has a similar experience on his new car also a Jap car from AD.

Somehow he managed to get them to change another car for him as the ants have spread all over the car.

Of course that was after several rounds of negotiation and after the pest control they engaged failed to get rid of the ants entirely.

That time ADs were selling cars like hot cakes, I am sure they do not want to risk their reputation.

Depends on usage I guess. For me I also go for the SUV because sometimes I need to transport bicycles and I prefer not to use a bicycle rack. For SUV I can just fold the rear seats and load the bicycles in but for sedans sure need a bicycle rack.

Before driving an A4, I was driving a Toyota Rav 4 (2.4L). Loading the bikes into an SUV is troublesome as I need to lower the rear seats. Deployed a bike rack to hold the bike upright inside the cabin space. The cabin will be fulll and I am unable to take any passengers. (time taken to load was like 5-7minutes)

After changing to a sedan A4, Loading the bike takes about less than a minute. I simply quick released both wheels of the bike and sack it nicely into the boot. Utimately, I still free up 2 passengers seat in the rear cabin. Using the bicycle rack (saris bone) is troublesome as it requrie some time to fix it onto the boot.

Even on race day, should I need to ferry 2 bikes, I can simply put one bike into the boot and one more into the rear passenger seats and secure it ill the safety belts. Afterwhich, I acn still pack the rear seat with my race bag and stuff.

Overall, a sedan car yeild a better space.

What kind of bike you talking about? I can never get 2 bikes into the boot of my family's 325i. One is already a struggle.

Hi TS, enjoy the new ride. Dont worry unduly over the DSG issue. If the problem comes, then think of the solution.

As other brothers have pointed out, Premium Automobile after-service support is quite good.

By the way, I am driving a A3 Sportsback 1.8. It is awesome. :)
