Why so cheepskate? Just do engine oil change and avoid other unnecessary service.. your car can overheat and catch fire if your eo is ineffective.. you are just another fire hazard..

Guess I have to provide an update. I did basic servicing. Asked around and went for those Groupon deals, changed spark plugs as additional. Mechanics said air con filter dirty too, but I didn't change. Found my front tyres botak-ing. Again, I check around and found good deal during the car expo show and changed front 2 wheels.

 

So far, driving with lots of peace of mind.

You may wish to service your car even though it left only 6 mths. Just change your engine oil if possible.

Sorry have to hijack the thread. I have decided to renew coe for my 05 Altis, no problems with thecar but wondering if any1 can recommend parts to change as a so called maintenance to keep the car going.

 

I have change oils around 8-9k everytime, the car is fine except mileage is 200k plus.

 

Just thought that sinc going for another 5 years, do some maintenance to keep it going.

My family used to have a 2006 Altis. Think we still have the front and rear strut bars. Also the plug and play hid conversion kit, lol

Even with my car left 6 mths, I still perform full svc with simple repairs as I do not know if I am renewing my ride or not.

Advisable to replace the following parts. No point to drive on and replace them near the 15th year when it's due for scrap.

 

- Timing belt, fan belt etc

- Rubber hoses

- Shock absorbers if it's not been changed within the last 3 years

- Do a major servicing and replace all fluids - auto tranny oil, brake oil etc.

- Brake pads (check condition)

Depends on how well maintained yr car is before and mileage clock . If 6 mths you drive like 20,000km then better service. Afterall, safety more important rite bro?

If you like weekend car n car in gd condition , think need not worried.. :-)

End of day depends on yr pocket as engine oil change etc is very reasonable if you go outside workshop. Normal mineral engine oil will do ... :-) gd luck bro

This thread definitely stirs up some interesting comments, When I was in the States, , I was told to do an oil change for my car, every 10000 miles, If I do the conversion right, 1 mile is 1.6 km meaning an oil change is needed probably 16000 km ? So we do have safety factor in our current routine maintenance.

i topped up with mobil engine oil 5w40... the fast knocking sound become louder....

 

if issue with engine internally confirm scratch head...

Drive until scrap. If it breaks down early, can tow to scrapyard straight.

Is that because one of the spark plug not working ? Does your fuel consumption shoot up  ?
