i recently changed my headunit as well and noticed the price difference among workshops are about $10-$20.

so maybe you could facebook message those that you feel comfortable with for quotes(good reviews and popular won’t go wrong)

for single din, i did a quick search and found this:

http://sggarage.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=102&products_id=562

so maybe that’s a ballpark figure.

Yup all the best in your decision making, the reason i choose freelancers is as I like to buy the stereo system i like from Amazon. But if you are more comfortable doing with a shop and have warranty, of course will pay more but will be able to do based on your preference.

I ordered this from amazon, single din uni. Singapore $107 inclusive of shipping, so many models to choose from, pioneer, JVC, Alphine.

Dear bros, wanted to check if anyone is using a

Liqui Moly Fuel Injection Cleaner ?

Looking at using it for the FD4 Auto. Understand that it will clean the engine and increase fuel efficiency. Anyone tried before?

if you really want the fuel injectors to be clean, you have to remove the injectors and have them cleaned using a machine. this is definitely more effective than pouring some cleaner into the fuel tank.

Saw a few 1.8 civic renewed 10 year for selling at 5k depre. Anything to take note of for this car?

Be prepare to fork out $2-3.5k for wear n tear parts not including any major engine or gear box problems. Civic is a good ride.

Suspension has many parts (bushings and what nots) that wear our pretty quickly so check those! Also, after 10 years the ignition coils may need to be replaced for peace of mind (had a failed one on my 11th year and the car lost power suddenly on the highway).

Auto trans on Hondas are delicate so be prepared to overhaul (did mine this year at 190K mileage with a recon one for 1.2K)

other than that, it's quite reliable and damn good to drive!

Thanks man, to think of it with the wear and tear can be abit costly though.

Seems like engine mount/suspension/shock absorbers are the parts that wear pretty quickly.

Engine and gearbox should be fine.

isnt it all cars are the same with all these wear and tear? all these wear and tear parts no choice. buying coe cars or even 2nd hand car that ages above 5 yrs, more or less need to fork out some money to replace them.

It's pretty much normal wear and tear la, usually I get the parts from local stockists and bring to JB to change, where I just pay for labour in RM, more cost effective!

If I'm really lazy then I just get some things done locally at sggarage cos they quite reasonable

check for possible engine oil leakage around the engine block and drain plug (most likely due to a bad seal as the metal washer has worn off).

check for worn wheel bearings and cracked bushings on both lower arms.

Haven't had it checked at professional yet. But thinking about your advice, I tried turning off the air condition and the noise seems to disappear or more faint.

Air con still cold though when turned on. Only when I hit the acceleration to around 3k rpm the noise will surface. And silent again at cruise.

Intend to get the serpentine belt change these couple of weeks. Condition of belt still looks ok with no visible crack.

it could be your tensioner issue. since you say u accelerate about 3k than got noise. if you havent change can consider.

Hi fellow Civic FD owners, my FD4's air-con compressor suddenly did not kick in upon startup today. Switched off the car, started again and the air-con compressor worked fine. Is it something I need to be concerned with at this point? I will monitor it for a few more days. This is the first time in 11+ years with the car that happened.

Sound like the compressor clutch is faulty. I only go to Mark cool for aircon repair, other workshop usually tell you to replace whole compressor.

I strongly suggest you tahan until CNY is over.. Any car repair now is cut throat one. Unless its tyre or battery replacement then LLST.

Thanks alot! Any indication how much the replace clutch and labour fee will cost for Civic?

I haven't replace before. But based on other Bros who had, it's less than $200, inclusive of labour. Certainly cheaper than replacing whole compressor.

But go to a reputable workshop for diagnosis first.. A faulty aircon can be due to many causes..
