All to take note, if you are going via the express queue which was mentioned earlier, think only one caregiver can be attached along to the elderly, special needs etc. just went with my old folk earlier and was cleared immediately without having to follow the long queue at Parliament House.

And also have to be of certain age if elderly, the army personnel was asking if my old folk was a PG citizen, I think that's about the age they are qualifying as elderly.

Reach 10PM, out by 1030PM. Constant movement due to ushering by personnel in the hall.

Yew heng, no I believed the second queue is from city hall side up , the initial queue was from clarke quay side, my other relative went by city hall side queue, the express queue is a separate queue near to the front right entrance of Parliament House where the hanging bridge linking to boat Quay is.

Seems like the decision for smrt to runs 24 hours tonight is not wasted. Many people are taking this opportunity to go down after midnight.

Joined the queue near Bridge leading to Clark Quay at 8.15 pm and went into the parliament house at 11.15 pm. There was another queue that seems shorter from the direction of The Adelphi probably from Cityhall Station.

Reached home about 12.10 am. Parked at UE Sq cos will be nearer from Parliament House. Went in after 7pm had dinner. Parking is $3 till 8 am next morning.

There were many volunteers giving out bottled mineral water along the way and even biscuits. One particular drinks point was manned by some taxi uncles near OCBC Centre. Each one of these helpers or volunteers were cheerful and friendly.

I was solemn at different parts of the route reflecting on Mr Lee and his life. My heart is still heavy and tears automatically will flow down my cheek..... eyes faulty tap.

The atmosphere inside the hall is also seldom and the ushers were efficiently moving the mourners swiftly along. I only had 5-8 secs to stand still and bowed as a mark of respect to Mr Lee. But I am satisfied that I went and not allow myself a second regret in my life if I had not gone.

It was worth every minute of my queuing.... my personal farewell to this great man who loved his country and people so much.

I will bid him final farewell on Sunday.

To those still in the queue, good for u!

I'm in beijing, morning when i was just sitting down for breakfast in a hotel, the tv news broadcast the death. M heart sank and i just sat there stoned and keep watching the Chinese news.

I can tell everyone that China has a v close relation with SG. their news keep showing and talking abt SG and LKY. they have very deep respect for us, which makes me damm proud

A tiny puny island, smaller than any china province, only equal to a small chinese town, but we command so much respect from a giant.

They actually showed history of SG, LKY, MY seperation, modern SG, economy etc. Even had some interviews with an expert.

I sawc some social media by Chinese ppl. They speak alot abt us.

Those dumbwit western reports should look in their own internal problems first. They claim democracy and freedom. See how the blacks and minority races are being treated.

Autocracy or not, its no importance. The proof is in the pudding. We travel withe SG passport, it commands so much respect and envy.

managed to do my part to bid farewell to our "Giant", modern Singapore founding father.... left home at 3am alone and arrived at Upp Circular Rd car park half an hr later. Saw queue was already there. Thought I could just cross the bridge and join the queue but found out it was one way. asked a police officer there where is the start of the queue and he told me Hong Lim Park... Made my way there and glad that I stopped midway and asked another set of police officers on duty again. this time was told Bank of China... made me walked half an hour for nothing.... joined the start of queue at 3.58am.... messaged my colleague and home that it will probably takes me 1.5 hours to complete the respect payment process...

the "early morning walks" offered some very interesting sights. saw few childrens in uniform already in the queue in front of me.... Apart from the bottle drink that were being handed out (plenty of water points), there was a young couple, each holding a cup of coffee going around asking if anyone needs a hot drink.... there was also another 2 male teenangers wach hold 2 bags of "Hacks" sweets, going to everyone in the queue asking if "we" need a sweet... I took one like most the the people did... heard a lot of "Thank You" and "Appreciate That" while in the queue....

The queue was very orderly... everyone just joined the flow and stayed quiet... Before the start of the scanning station, each were given a card and pen to write whatever condolences he/she wants to say... I pick up one but towards the end, I just return the empty piece of card and pen and told the manning stuff "I'm just lost for word"....

Paid my respect in the hall and I stayed there with head bowed for about a minute... no one pushing you to move on inside the hall.... left the hall and then walked out of Parliament House at 5am and head straight to office in Pandan.... Total time from start of queue to leaving Parliament House was 1.25 hours...
