They donated the amount in their name as good deed using my money and in particular this mourning period. Like the Hokkien saying, using someone's backside for their face. Sorry, I will not be supporting.

never thought about the tax rebate part.

hmmmm ok.

For once I see Singaporeans so united, although it takes the demise of Mr Lee to make it happen. Its been a long time.

I do hope that Singaporeans can be united and display the same spirit they had exhibited today to face the challenges ahead for the next 50 years.

Rest in peace, Mr Lee.

I think he greatest legacy is to make us world class.

We have to find a place in the world

and earn our own keep and

the only way to compete is to be the best.

And that is to be world class.

Our ports, our airport, our airlines etc.

And the most important thing is never to be

complacent and always improving productivity,

innovation, competitiveness etc.

Actually both my wife and me shed tears when we heard of his passing. In fact, my wife has been dropping tears for the whole day. As for me, I have no mood to work today, got to take leave.

Spoke to a colleague from Malaysia about Mr Lee today but she gave me that "why bother me" look.

Guess not all appreciates what he has done.

I will be wearing white on Fri anyways because I remembered Mr Lee is ruthlessly honest even on himself. White as snow to signify a clean government under his care.

Going to the parliament house later. If it's the longest queue time so be it. He deserves much more but this is done to respect him.... no way can I ever repay his love for this nation but hey I will try to do more within my ability for those I come in contact with, to be more gracious and kind towards one another. He is a peace maker who wishes no war on any country or peoples.

I am not ashamed that my eyes are puffy and red and likely will be for the next few days. I am glad I can learn my history in real time.

Take care my bros and sisters....let's make this man's labour of love worthwhile and last for generations after us.

Went this afternoon.. queued for ~4 hrs..

i think whether or not we wear black or white.. its the fact this comes straight from the heart that really matters and gratitude towards our late leader.

Let's not be divided over the dress code.

What happened?

Breadtalk came out with an "innovative" bun called 李不开你。 Selling at $2. Said it was for charity.

Done in bad taste. Taking the opportunity for marketing. They should do what other businesses are doing - give people who are queuing free bun.

There is a flourist shop at raffles place giving free stalk of rose to people paying their last respect to LKY.

PS. Flower cannot be brought into the parliment house, you can only leave them outside the white tentage queue area.

The other 2 things I will always remember him for is

In the 1970's I think about 10 road sweepers where killed by cars

while sweeping the roads and he introduced high visibility bibs

to stop more getting knocked down.

There are so many smart people in gov but he had to give this suggestion.

During SARS taxi drivers were getting $30 or $50 a day

and he had to suggest to the taxi company to reduce the daily rental.

They eventually reduced this to $30 a day.

There are so many smart and kind people but he had to be the one

to suggest to get this done. Now he is not here anymore

I don't know who will come out with these good ideas next time.

:D

I simply wept when i saw the coffin being lowered onto the gun carriage. I thought i would be able to deny myself of such a moment of weakness but the dam broke.

I just can't help but have a mind blast, imagining the enormity of the anxiety that the man had to grapple every single waking day of his life. Worrying about the survival of a nation.

And now this image of him lying at state, seemingly relieved of his lifelong preoccupation. I just can't put a lid on the torrent of emotions that i am feeling.

Singapore has lost her father and i have lost my grandfather.

Aiyo, how could breakdtalk used LKY as a marketing tactic to promote their buns?
