hi Chong,

I am using Note 4 and yes it is lollipop 5.0.1. and I have been using AA only until last week It could not launch the map, I wonder is it is the google map problem. I will try again to see if it is able to work. Thanks for your help.

Hi, how you get android auto to work with Note 4? I try to use Android auto on Note 4 with Pioneer AVH-X2750BT and it doesn't work. What am I missing?

HDMI cable required if you want to use AppRadio and mirror phone display on the head unit. I just use CarPlay as it seems to work better than AppRadio in general. Both have its pros and cons, so ultimately it's which system you prefer.

Thx. My sentiments as well. Bought the hdmi cable down hvg read the forum.

On the usb + hdmi with digital AV connector, which USB port did u use? I get the usb not recognized error message on one port.

The installer like anyhow do :/. My tachometer lights turns off at night and turns on in the day. Face palm

According to the manual, it's supposed to be USB port 1, which is the same for CarPlay. When I tested it, I actually used USB port 2 as I could not recall it was port 1, and somehow it worked for AppRadio. I will probably test it again on USB port 1 one of these days.

Just to add on. I am thinking of the following wiring setup to reduce clutter

1. HDMI + usb to digital AV

2. Usb

For (1), given I will be using carplay, can I still use 1 and leave setting as usb cable for car play?

Was thinking to avoid using only the USB and hdmi exposed and unused. So using digital AV to avoid dust.

Ah own self answer own self.

Finally configured my setup

Usb1 only for Apple + HDMI + Bluetooth for Appradio to work. CarPlay disabled on this mode.

Usb2 only for android/thumb drive

For users who are mainly Apple users who only uses CarPlay mostly,

Usb1 (1.8m) cable will do

I hook in the hdmi still but hide and cover the hdmi somewhere la.

guys, can confirm if this model can watch mp4 and mkv format files via the usb?

thanks.

Yes, I can confirm it plays mp4, fine BUT mkv is subjected to 1920X1280 resolution (highest), sometimes some codec playback not compatible, no sound.

I dont think 2750 supports AA. 8750 does though.

Hi All,

Just want to share my humble opinion about the AVH-X8750BT. I think after all the hype and expectation, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting for a $900+ device it would include the GPS and a host of other functions. But in any case the sound quality is what Pioneer stands for and I must say sound quality is immaculate as always. The main thing I was looking for was the hype about Car Play. Wtf was it all about? After playing with it for a while. Here are some notes.

1. USB1 for iPhone/iPod ONLY.

2. USB2 for Android Phones ONLY. do not mix them up. does not work.

3. USB1 or 2 can read FAT32 format USB drives upto 64GB.

4. Play movies all sorts mp4, mov, mkv etc etc. Cannot output to Rear monitor(s), IF your phone is connected!! be aware.

5. Better if you install the steering wheel vol -/+ fwd/rwd AND if you have the "speak" button even better.

My full comparison and evaluation of Car Play and Android Auto (ver 1.3) is in the table below.

attachicon.gifApple Car Play_Page_2.jpg

Phones tried were. iPhone 5S, iPhone 6.

XiaoMi 4i 16GB w Android 5.1 (Lollipop) no mirrorlink

Xperia Z3 w Android 5.1 - Mirrorlink works

Samsung S5 w Android 5.1 - Mirrorlink works

My Conclusion

-------------------

I prefer the Android Auto interface. At version 1.3 they still have some catchup to do with the functionality. The interface however is appealing and has what drivers are looking for at one quick glance. With the CP you are stuck with the 8 pieces of same "clunky" icon  or huge fonts song titles (hardly seen album art in the background). I must say for the first time, Apple lost the appeal factor here.

The only advantage I see that the iPhone has, is the Music store - iTunes. You can buy new music and listen to it immediately. You can't do that with Google Music Play (btw does not display chinese characters properly). You have to get a Mac/PC to transfer on to the phone. That's why I use Spotify to find the songs. iHeartRadio is cool too... hope the local radio station will be on board.

If I were to attach a phone permanently to the AVH-X8750BT it will be the Samsung S5 w AA. I am sure more apps will come on board.

cheers,

Ken

Bro, samsung s5's Mirrorlink is version 1.1 whereas 8750 is version 1.0. So by right it cant work. How did u get it to work?

I am having this problem cos my note 4 Mirrorlink is also ver 1.1

Unless u are talking about full mirroring using the HDMI adaptor?

For users of AppRadio Live, you can switch your region to Malaysia to enable the download and use of Navmii as an alternative navigation app. It has audible traffic instructions and is thus more useful than the navigation app in Appradio itself.
