I am really in love with this car. what is there not to like.

it's easy on fuel

there is not too much complicated electronics

it has air bumps, which is actually so functional. its like why didn't i think of that.

the engine is shared with PSA too. so there shouldn't be a worry.

the looks of it.

i would buy one tommorrow. if they bring in the higher powered one. and that is my only

gripe.

The side and rear of the car look nice to me. However, the added padding, no doubt functional, basically killed the overall aesthetic of the car .

saw at least 5 cactus over last few days around south central area. do they belong to any of u guys here?

Saw one in a central northern neighborhood too.

If that's the case, arguably the Cactus is not for you. The AirBump claddings are part of the fun rugged aesthetic of the car!

Hi! I just got my Cactus over the weekend. Noted some issues with the car which I didn't encounter with my previous rides (Mazda 2 & Toyota Axio).

Can I ask if any of u guys encounter it too, & how u resolved it??

1. Air-con / air-flow cannot be switched off. Ive always switched off the air-con (totally no air coming out from air-con outlets) before switching off the engine as I've heard that it is better for the car.

2. When moving off from stationary position, the pick-up is slow & not smooth; can feel the gear change machiam it's a manual car. I guess its an issue with the Cactus right?

3. Air-con is only cold if its 22deg cel. & below. Anything 24deg & above, it blows warm air. Even at 23deg, the cool air is mixed with warm air. Car agent told me this is a difference between conti cars & jap cars. So just wanna 'reassurance' here that there's nothing wrong with my car's air-con.

Thanks much in advance!

Congrats on your new ride and keep the feedback coming!

I can't answer your questions as I don't own a Cactus but questions 1 n 3 sounds strange to me.

Hope other Cactus owners here can help verify, cheers!!

Cactus comes with a ETG gearbox, which is an automated manual gearbox.. As with most automated manual gearbox, takes a bit of getting used to minimize the jerkiness.. some say anticipate the gear changes and ease off accelerator a bit as the gear changes, then press accelerate more after the gear change complete.. My colleague driving a Picasso also a bit jerky.. [cool]

1:

No A/C off control at all in the climate menu? I recall seeing one on the Peugeot 308 and that uses a similar entertainment/control architecture. If there is a big button with "A/C" on it that might function as the air-con power button.

Peugeot-308-5-Door-Feline-e-HDi-115-Revi

If yours is similar to the top left screen, just press A/C, this is the air-con toggle. Frankly though I don't think you have to turn off the air-con each time you leave the car these days.

2:

It's the ETG gearbox. It's what we called a "robotized manual" - essentially an almost-traditional manual complete with clutch, except that the clutch is computer controlled rather than by your left foot. The problem is that these French cars tend to have them programmed in a way that resembles a driver taking only their second practical lesson. i.e. it feels like it throws the clutch without gradual engagement, etc.

Only advice I can offer you is, keep driving and learn to sense when it is changing a gear - ease off the gas as you would with a real manual. Other option is to use manual mode and do the same - ease off when you swap a gear.

3:

I just had a conti-experience and indeed mine is blowing somewhat warm air above 23 degrees. I believe it's due to the fact that once it has equalized the temperature, it has no reason to continue blowing cold air, which would effectively reduce the temperature of the cabin beyond the set level. Are you using automatic mode? I find that once the temperature has reached the level set, it remains comfortable regardless of how cold the vent air is.

Thanks guys!

There's an A/C button. But even when 'off', it still blows air. Just that the air blown is warmer.

It starts blowing warm air just 5 secs or so after switching on the engine, if temp is set at 23deg cel. & above. Frens driving other conti cars (Alfa & Audi), said they usually set their air con temp at 22 & 23deg cel. & didnt notice their air-con blowing warm air.

Anyways, my car has to be sent to Citroen workshop to touch up some exterior defects (dent & discolouration) which the workshop mechanic overlooked prior handing over my car (Damn pissed!). Will ask them about the air-con thingy ...

I dunno about the warm-air thing then if it starts right away. As for the A/C button it shuts off the air-con compressor, but not the fan. If you want to off completely you have to manually turn fan speed to 0.

Is it recommended to off the fan too before switching off air-con than? Been driving jap cars for so many yrs, not used to conti cars & its ''rules'' yet ...

Kindly request an update from Cactus owners after driving for a year or so, apart from the niggling issues, how is drivability, reliability, petrol consumption?

Saw a lagoon blue version yesterday, striking!
