Out of curiosity, why Kulai?

I prefer Johor in generally, as the drive back to Singapore would be straightforward and immediate.

Prices at Skudai, Puteri, Danga Bay, Bukit Indah, Wong Ah Fook area etc are more expensive, all thanks to fellow Singaporeans.

So looking at Kulai or slightly beyond, so that influences from Channel 5 and Channel 8 are smaller.

Proximity to Singapore is important.

When I am old, I would just rent a small condo somewhere in Kulai to retire quietly.  Maybe convert my SG car to weekend plate or classic plate and drive there.

At least when I need medical attention, I can come back to Singapore any time.  Paid through medisave and medishield.

I am not too sure how well the ambulance work in Malaysia, and the charges of medical services/hospitalisation for foreigners.

Yup this is the major one. I have heard of friends parents needing ambulance in Malaysia while in their holiday home and not even knowing what number to call... 911? 999? Must add +60? In the end they call their kid in Sg who help call the ambulance in MY.

Then the ambulance send to a hospital with one intern on night duty while the experienced ones come in daytime.  If they survive, then they will also find out how Malaysia can afford to give locals RM1 surgeries... by getting foreigners to subsidise them.

Better sort out the insurance and stay near big hospitals if retiring there.

All these details need to be sort out before making the decision.

That's a good option to have depending on severity and how urgent it is.  Certainly no harm to have a Gleneagles nearby as well for emergency cases.
