Friendstar Supercharged March 2, 2015 Share March 2, 2015 Ya tyRes life span 2 yrs thereabouts or 40k so just get decent rubbers n be safe Some brands they put their tire mileage life as 70,000 miles. That's more than 100,000km. Ain't that pushing too far? Then again, its manufacture words. Should be trustworthy right? For me. Max I go is 60,000km. Radx. When we change tires, should we do alignment too? ↡ Advertisement

Normally 2 yrs is whn the rubber hardens and braking efficiency and all are compromised. not really unless you feel that it veers off. Balancing is done at the shops immediately before putting the tyres on. High speed alignment not really necc, unless you do v high speeds all the time

When change tyre sure need to do balancing, the workshop will add weight to the rims the balance the rims with tyres. If you see the rims added with many weights means the manufacturing of the rim is not good. Need to compensate by balancing with extra weight. Alignment for me usually do about 40K to 50K mileage or when there is change of new tyres or coilover.
Roberttan 5th Gear March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 I came across one tyre shop wants to sell me New but manufactured in year 2012 tyres. Printed 1112, I suppose its 11th week of 2012. You guys think its safe to buy? A premium brand tyres are Safe to use this tyre for next 2 years at least some may not feel comfortable ( I can understand) if one said is not safe to use this 2012 tyres, please look around you you may still find quite numbers of cars are still on this 2012 tyre, would you tell them is not safe ? since you left only 2 years, I would say most Good brand tyre can do th e job also provided with your care and maintenance of them. Tyres are only 4 contacts between you and road.

Hamburger Hypersonic March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 This is my stock tyre. Decent so far but only 1k mileage lol. Most tyre I use last about 40k. The recent falken 453 barely touches 30k. Gonna try primacy to see if it last longer.

Zmasheroo Neutral Newbie March 4, 2015 Share March 4, 2015 Go to the big tyre shops which are likely to have good quality used ones.. Ask for say 70% thread left. Tyres less than 3 years old from manufacture I think is safe.

Aukang 6th Gear March 7, 2015 Share March 7, 2015 (edited) What is the price differential between good and lousy tyres? Agree with the brothers who have advised that the tyres are the only contact with the road, so try not to be penny wise pound foolish... Go for one with good balance between braking distance and fuel economy....you will save some money from the fuel economy but also be safer knowing your car can come to a quicker stop if e braking needed.
