hi, cousin got into accident, fully his fault. he rear ended another car. damage to his car is minimal, but damage to the other party is serious. boot cannot close, bumper dented with some cracks, bumper and headlights misaligned. just want to know, if he can settle privately, which workshop is recommended (won't carrot chop).

another question, lets say the repair bill too high, then settle via insurance, my cousin wants to know what will happen. the car is his company's car and thus under commercial insurance. will his company premium go up? will there be a record on the company or on the driver? this record will be permanent? this record will affect future car purchase?

Just report to the insurance company and they will advise the procedures!

just report to insurance company and let the insurer settle

no point to settle yourself ... the charges would be high based on what you decribe

nowadays ... just to change rear bumper, boot, replacement car, respray, change rear lights, etc - few thousands liao

private settle is for superficial scratch ... ie: respray or little dent with panel beating ...

General rule of thumb, anything within the insurance excess can try for private settlement.

If exceed insurance excess, no point private settle, because you still have your own damages to cover.

Ya the damages sounds in the region of a couple of thousands..plus his own repairs is really bo hua.

Let insurance settle is the best. U will never noe if the other guy play u out by claiming injuries or not. Based on the damages, not suprising if he claim

your cousin is lucky that the other party didnt insist going back to AD for repair. the bill will be [knife][knife] . If its me as the other party, i wil sure insist on AD repair.

you can actually just approach any authorised workshop that is under ur insurance policy, they are more than happy to assist you with it. They are all answerable to the insurance companies that is listed under them, if not happy just complain to the insurance company.
