What Will it Take to Get Singaporeans to Give Up Their Cars?

only in singapore ... unique ... a car can be called "baobei car" ... lol

nothing... nothing will let singaporeans give up their cars... the current habits and mindsets of singaporeans have been built over many years.. it will take a lot effort and time to change.. with the current effort from the current govt, it will not change.. haha..

vicious cycle - erp, cars too expensive - some give up driving and take public transport - PT more packed - some give up PT and drive and so the cycle repeats.. haha..

the end results is just everything is expensive..

Seriously i rekon that foreigners came to Singapore and admire that our city is clean and we have a efficient system in place and life was good but they had never experience the whole real episode of living in spore. having breed and grow up in Singapore is no easy task. These opinion were not relevant as they only see a nice painted picture which they dont know that life seriously sucks and how the locals were being exploided to how much sacrifies. If you ask the foreigners to give that kind of contribution they would just give up their citizenships. For example, the sake for going through NS.

This is exactly how foreigners view North Korea, as a comparison.

if u think abt it. The costs of transport, food etc..in town vs rural areas all outweigh the overall cost in the big scheme of things sometimes

If you are in Jurong Island, there is not much food choices. Unless you drive [sly]

So a car is a need! Not a want [laugh]

This is exactly how foreigners view North Korea, as a comparison.

does foreigners go to wet market? NO. They go to supermarket.

Does foreigners go to hawker center? NO. They ate at fine dining.

Does foreigners drink beer at coffeeshop. NO. They go to luxury pubs.

Does foreigners go to masa malam? NO. WTH is that.

Ask foreigners to sacrifies to go to NS, they ask you to f**k off.

They had no understanding of our culture. What give them any rights to comment on car ownership.

I take public transport everyday. Weekends going out with kids also take public transport. But i still buy a car cuz I like driving. So I will drive once or twice a week at night when there is very little traffic.
