This club has a rich history so really sad to see them going out of business. Italian clubs seem to be in bad financial shape over the last few years and even the Milan teams are not spared.

In my view, it's tough financially to run a football club and very unlikely to break even, let alone make money. EPL with their huge TV revenue has set a high benchmark by paying astronomical salaries and high ticket prices so the rest of Europe is struggling to match this....

Yup. Really sad to see it ended like this. Used to be one of the top teams.

I remembered one Italian player who was asked would he want to play in the EPL in the early 90s....he said this...'EPL is a league for retirees!' I have forgotten which player said those words......but the stage have come a full circle!

i was a huge fan of Italian football, especially in the 80s and 90s

the superstars used to play at Serie A, from Maradona, Van Basten, Gullit, Baggio, Batistuta, to Zidane, Ronaldo (fat), Neved, Cannavaro, Nesta, etc

sad to see Serie A in such a poor state now

outcompeted by Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga

Bro, you forgot Maldini??

Signori consider good or not?

Who still remember Gianluigi Lentini?

That Torino guy who joined AC Milan in the early 90s for a world record transfer fee.

Subsequently he was involved in a car accident which limited his playing career.

Champipnship manager in early 90s.

Lentini in milan... injured 1 season one. Lol.

N theres the 3 ft rules....

Gullit, rijkard, laudrup, the croat prosinesik or bojak, the bearded guy, very good player too.

actually a good rule... at that time m league also 3 ft rules... seems better than unlimited fts...

Sadly football nowadays in many leagues plays too many ft.....

but bo bian leh

if Premier League limits number of FTs to only 3 per team, its standard will surely plunge as there are not enough good English players

but for an English club to field entirely foreign players (Arsenal and Chelsea a couple of times) is really [shakehead]

He still is as handsome as ever and he has aged gracefully over the years and notwithstanding he is occupying the hot seat at Real Madrid. [:p]

Italy just won the world cup in 82, so there is an increase interest in Italian football from Singaporeans. I remembered other than English and Italian football, German football was also featured on Ch 5. The German english commentator was also a game host(in english) for a German game show too :D

The Italian football can pay the highest salary and the level football is higher too, though boring. More tactical and defensive. Most of the footballers will want to go there because it is consider the highest level in club football. South American stars will go there is also because of language and culture reasons. But from what I know, in terms of being a supporter, in Singapore and South East Asia alone, English clubs have more supporters. And that was before the EPL era.

Other than Maradona, there is a Brazi first choice striker Careca to help score the goals for Napoli. But before Maradona joined, Napoli's reputation definitely is not as big as Juventus and the Milan clubs. In fact I think it is even less reputed than Torino at that time.

I think it is partly because of English club ban in European league causing many big star to be not willing to come to England to play Edited by Joseph22

even if Parma survives, it's likely to wander around the lower divisions for years, maybe decades, just like Leeds united now!

but Leeds had not have such huge debts even during its lowest point, and it had some good players for sale during that period (Ferdinard, Woodgate, Milner, Viduka, etc)

They may not have that kind of famous players to sell.. but they have 226 players under their book.

I believe they can fetch in some good money if they choose to sell their best 180 players . [bounce2][bounce2]
