Interestingly, most people go blank when mention Subaru XV - no idea what car is that and how it looks like.

So short video to show how it looks like

Nice vid. It is a tough decision between the non-turbo forester and XV. Why haven't you chosen the forester turbo?

Why not Turbo Forester? - much more expensive than XV (but much cheaper than equivalent high-power turbo SUVs like BMWs and Audi's etc - esp. if you compare with those that come with all-wheel drive)

Why not Non-turbo Forester? - CAT B much higher then (nowadays, close enough to consider).

Vezel Hybrid takes the crown

20km/L real world fuel economy, 0-100km/h in 8s, Honda reliability and excellent practicality

Nothing comes close

Vezel wan sui wan sui wan wan sui

I agree with above.  Also add in Mitsubishi ASX (when CAT B COE is low enough) and Suzuki S-Cross to round out the SUVs in this price range which coincidentally are all Jap brands.

However, if want actually made in Japan, then only Vezel, Subaru XV and ASX. (QQ made in UK with French engine, S-Cross is Hungarian)

If want authorised distributor car, then left with only XV and ASX.

I personally drive XV and happy with the choice.

ASX (2.0) is $103+K, cheaper & bigger than QQ and XV!  , must check it out. Dunno that price is for 6 or 12 bids tho.

6 bids non guaranteed. Got almost all common features. Was offered 3 yrs free service incl parts and labour but not sure if still available.

ASX bigger engine but internal space is about the same as QQ and XV (maybe smaller even in some places)

XV price is not apple to apple compare as they usually only quote guaranteed price

So if guaranteed to guaranteed, may end up similar.

But for those who want bigger engine, agree that no brainer when compare these three in the same price range.

Somehow I feel that automakers alliance to make cars are a sham. In this case the Renault-Nissan Alliance. They are rivals whether they like it or not. So to come together to make cars you think both parties will share their know how and expertise? Maybe share some lah. Some only.

I can't remember when such auto alliance made a good car. BMW and PSA alliance got together to make the prince engine. It turn out to be a piece of crap. [laugh]

Power. From rumour to reality Nissan bought 34% stake in Mitsubishi Motors.

http://www.motor1.com/news/62690/official-nissan-buying-34-stake-in-mitsubishi-motors-for-217-billion/

Japan's national public broadcasting organization, NHK, reported just yesterday that Nissan could acquire a 34-percent stake in Mitsubishi Motors and now we have official confirmation from the two car manufacturers. As part of the agreement, Nissan is buying 506.6 million shares in Mitsubishi Motors Corporation for 468.52 yen ($4.3) per share for a total of 237B yen ($2.17B). As a consequence, Nissan will become the biggest shareholder of MMC and will effectively take control of the troubled manufacturer.

Why troubled? Because Mitsubishi is involved in a major scandal concerning faked fuel economy tests, but now with Nissan acting as the single-largest shareholder, Mitsu has more chances of bouncing back. The scandal has greatly affected MMC’s stock prices (down by 43% since April 19), so Nissan probably managed to ink a pretty sweet deal.

Carlos Ghosn, chief executive and president of Nissan, described the transaction as a “win-win” situation and promised to “preserve and nourish” the Mitsubishi marque. His sentiments were echoed by Osamu Masuko, chairman of the board and chief executive of MMC: “This agreement will create long-term value needed for our two companies to progress towards the future.”

Nissan first punch hole in Mitsubishi's boat by exposing their FC figures and now help to bail it....the cheap way I suppose.

Turbos are aiding engine combustion by recycling exhaust air and forcing it in the combustion chamber for a better combustion. The lower the RPM, the slower the flow of the exhaust air to the turbo charger, means you will experience low power boost, or commonly termed as "turbo lag". That explains why at low RPM's, turbo chargers are inefficient. But new technology nowadays a has recovery systems to minimize or eliminate turbo lags...

Awesome explaination. For qashqai, test drived it before but not vezel. Pickup is good bcos of the high torque but u have to rev to 3-4rpm to achieve that. If i rem correctly. Heard frm owner that its underpower. Probably due to its weight too. Note the the engine is manufactured by Renault. SE told me that Nissan dnt develope turbo.engine for this size.

Another impt thing i would like to point out for the CEV rebate of the cars. If Im correct, do u knw that the 10k rebate for vezel is 50% being paid by u altough stated it reduce yr ARF value. ( e.g without cev, arf 20k. With cev, arf 10k. 5 yrs u sell. Without/cev u get back 50%@10k. With/cev u get back 50%@5k.)

See the lose of 5k frm the parf u r getting back? So is it really a rebate?

You get back the PARF only after you scrap, likely at the end of 10 years. $5K will probably be worth a lot less after 10 years.

Vezel Hybrid takes the crown again. With PARF at $2.5K at the end of 10 years, you can renew COE and continue driving after 10 years and lose only $2.5K.

Vezel Hybrid battery cost is $2K according to local stockist. Li-ion battery technology has progressed significantly. For example, your iphone uses its battery 24 hours a day at least 1-2 years without any issues. Your car is only driven an average of 1-2 hours every day.

Come on lah, engine and transmission cost a lot more. Look at Volkswagen and Audi DSG, lots of problems that are very costly to fix also got so many buyers.
