Adrianli Hypersonic March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 I pulled the trigger and fitted my sunglass with Crizal Xtractive. Just collected it on Saturday. Cost me $220 for the lens only. It did get dark inside the car. When wearing it in the car, it did turn slightly dark. Placing it on the dashboard under the sun, it did get darker than wearing it. However yesterday was a cloudy day so the sun wasnt that strong so it did not turn to very dark. Comparing to my clip-ons, my clip-ons are darker. See photo.

Sunglass fitted with Crizal Xtractive.jpg That is my experience too. It needs direct UV light to darken. You got a good price for the lenses.
Kangadrool Supersonic March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 I think they need to think out of the box or reverse what current norm is, i.e. lens should turn clear when in darkness rather than having the lens turning dark in direct sunlight.
Baal Supersonic March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 I have severe dry eyes prob. Leading to photo sensitivity. Have tried clip on that can flip, but the spring area snapped. Using the skyline wear-over for months. Now thinking of getting a set of lense thats perm orangy brown, that i can wear day n night, indoor/outdoor. Coz at night, the rear light of some cars n white light from those proj lamps hurt. The last i check, my old flower eye est at 100 deg. Optician say no need to make 1st. I all day using eye lube like 2 stroke engine needing 2T. Sigh.
Kangadrool Supersonic March 29, 2016 Share March 29, 2016 (edited) If you are modernist, can ask the speckie shop to tint your plastic lens. But, won't be cheap. I do see some old foggies wearing tinted speckies. For me, I old-fashionist, I still use traditional glass, no way to tint. There is though a brand of glass transition lens which will leave a yellowish orangy effect even w/o UV exposure. Yeah, those LED, DRL and HID, Blues are terrible lights. I have severe dry eyes prob. Spanly 5th Gear June 7, 2016 Share June 7, 2016 Any recommendation for reading glasses (old flower eye)?? I'm not short sighted so only need to wear while in office while working on my notebook... however, due to the fact that i need to take off & put on the glasses very often between looking at the screen & talking to colleagues, my specs don't usually last too long as the side arms either get bent or loosen. Current pair is very light (Korean alternative to Swissflex) but the side arm is loosening as is those non-screw clip-on type to the frame.

I used to do that with one hand and sooner than later the arm will give way.

You're right about the habit.. if i con't to yank my spec off with one hand, don't think any specs can take the abuse

Lasts a bloody long time as well as long as your degree doesn't change significantly. http://www.parismiki.com.sg/frames/starck/
Porker Turbocharged July 25, 2016 Share July 25, 2016 I'm currently into the 4th year of using Rudy Project Maya Suf. Frame is still in very good condition. Paint on metal parts will drop off in time but no biggy because those parts can be replaced.
Atrecord Supersonic July 25, 2016 Author Share July 25, 2016 Was wondering why this thread so familiar, then realised i started it last year Anyway, since the pair i eventually decided on last year, now < 1.5 yr and it's getting blurry again... Must be all the late-night surfing of MCF plus the games on phone/tablet making it worse... ↡ Advertisement
