And most nose pads can last quite long. ↡ Advertisement

The worst brand I had for prescription and sunglasses frame are Tag Heuer. Totally not worth the money paid and the distributor sucks. No issues. This is just anecdotal from what i read last time. But I read a lot about frames when i got my sunglasses years ago. And even the optical shop tells me the same thing also. I prefer MIJ anyway. Don't really like the oakley look for prescription lenses anyway. Though it's suitable for sporty looking sunglasses. for classic sunglasses, still raybans are more iconic. For the price I paid for the frame, $200+, I find it vfm esp for the grip when I run. Downside is the rubber can't last but there's local one for one exchange for 3 years. After that, if you are still using the frame, can always buy replacement rubber. I bought non authentic ones for $7. If can last 6 to 12 months, I happy already. Real ones are maybe 7 times more expensive but they also will not last 7x longer. I had 2 pairs of tag huer too. Definitely not as vfm as Oakley. I learn from the optician, to keep the frame from not dropping down, especially when running, the most effective way is to make the legs 'kiap' around head stronger. If you have plastic legs like my army nsf matt black type of frame, just use hair dryer heat up and bent the legs inward. Becareful not to bent too much as can be uncomfortable if it clamp too hard.

Original crosslink's temple rubber is 15 a pair from service center inclusive of cleaning and replacement. Same for the nosepad. The only hassle is they operate office hours. I have many pairs of Oakley prescription frames. Started with titanium ones but switched to crosslink when I started exercising more frequently, because they are more stable and also they hide the thickness of plastic lens (high myopia).

Sorry I was wrong. I took reference from carousel where they say authenticatic ones are like the price I quoted. Good to know it's only $15 per pair. Agree the crosslink is good for running. Grips very well even when totally drenched. Edited October 24, 2018 by Kxbc

Need to more than just kiap around head. The nose pad is very important to me too. Crosslink nose pads are rubbery. Grips like crazy. The legs are malleable, can kiap your head as tightly as you want, and without heating. Since you run so regularly, go try 1 pair. Really worth it. But not sure if still selling. At least 3 year old model.

Even if ender wants to buy, might not have the Crosslink model anymore. But Oakley has a lot of other models which share the same characteristics, ie, rubber legs and rubber nose pad. I was told they use the same components used to make tyres to make these parts. If need larger space to accommodate progressive lenses, also have. Someone shared a picture of that some pages back. But you must be comfortable with thick dark frames.
Lala81 Hypersonic October 25, 2018 Share October 25, 2018 oakley/rayban very famous. So got a lot of parts out there. But my opinion, is why the hell need parts other than nose pad. My glasses from 12 years ago, still functioning. doesn't slip when running either. My current pair is fitted a bit loosely over temples, so it's more comfy but does slip during running. Lala81 Hypersonic October 25, 2018 Share October 25, 2018 (edited) but ok lah. u have to take care of your glasses. or maybe if u are outdoor a lot then the rubber will deteriorate from the heat. But buying a few hundred dollar frame, then telling me the parts need to be replaced is like ... bloody hell its not a 50 dollar frame On 10/24/2018 at 4:09 PM, Ender said: Currently quite satisfied with my cheap matt black frame for NSF style. Now lao uncle, don't really want to spent too much. once u get used to titanium, u won't really like most other frames. It's a weight on your face frankly. But have to balance strength vs durability. Some can be too thin but very easy to bend out of shape. Edited October 25, 2018 by Lala81

Must check with you: which shop in queensway you bought from? There are so many specs shops there... Also, what lens did you get and how much was it huh, for the one with magnetic clip-on polarised lens? I went Owndays to ask, and was told their 'Snap' range, is $198. It's plastic, then if want progressive (which I think i should finally try out) will need add $100 (or $200, if want the affected part of the lens to be larger for bigger field of vision), and then if want transition, will add another $100. So one pair of plastic specs can be ~$400...

Vratenza Supersonic November 2, 2018 Share November 2, 2018 +1 for that. Currently using the crosslink for my exercising. Never need to adjust it from start to finish of my 2-3 hours exercising regime of running and gym work. Likes the grippy stems and nose grips, especially the asian fit with the higher nose grips to push the frame away from the cheek bones. Only complain is the slight distortion of the peripheral vision because of the wrap around design. Going to try change to transition lens on my pair in due time....then it will be bettter for outdoor exercise activities. It helps a lot with the eye adjustment but will become not as stylo as the original. i really like the crosslink for my runs, esp for HIIT sprints. agree with you on all the other points. ↡ Advertisement
