How do we know if we are getting Crizal Lens over there? My last pair of crizal which I got here, comes with papers, or is it cert, can't really recall.

my current crizal lenses have watermarks on them

my local optician told me to use that as a gauge whether real or fake

I don't think you can make polarised prescription lenses (i did ask about them), U have to take into account polarised means you can't read GPS screen when driving.

Yeah the sun even in spring in Perth and NZ were way brighter than SG, probably due to the lack of cloud cover there..

I also heard something like that - prescription lenses cannot be polarised.

How come polarised cannot read GPS screen leh?

My zeiss lens for my sunglasses and they are polarised.   I use the drive lens which I think is 50% VLT.

Dear Forumers

Need to get a new pair of spectacles as the current lens start to develop scratches at the corners. The paint on the metal frames also scraping off. Recently, visited my usual optical shop. As it carries no small titanium frames (<=45|22), have to KIV the make then.

I am highly myopic and therefore, normally go for 1.74 high index plastic lens in a pair of small full-rim frames. Such combination would ensure a light pair of spectacles. However, it seems challenging nowadays to get a reasonable pair of small titanium frames (to go with the costly lens). Didn't bother online shops as I think it is better to fit on comfortably the physical piece before proceeding with the make.

Hence, would greatly appreciate assistance on local optical shops that offer reasonable priced small titanium full-rim frames from Seiko, Rodenstock, Silhouette or equivalent. Please pm me the contacts.

Btw, besides Hoya, Crizal and Carl Zeiss, anyone come across Shamir and has tried the lens? Kindly share your experience here. I am considering Shamir lens for my next pair of spectables.

Thanks lots.

use glass lens instead of hi-index plastic lens.

Hi-index adds weight. High power high index plastic lens has little weight advantage over glass.

Stick to Seiko or Nikon Japanese frames for perfect Asian fit and prevent sliding down from nose bridge. Can be a challenge to find now though.

Made my current pair of Seiko 50|18 from Sincere in Beauty World. Recently saw a shop (near the minimart) near Upper Boon Keng FC selling Seiko and Nikon frames too.

Hi Kangadrool

Thanks for the recommendations! Not familiar with Upper Boon Keng but checked the Street Directory. Guess you are referring to the shops at Blk 11 or Blk 18. If so, will find time to visit the optical shop near minimart. Btw, can share your damage for the Seiko frames 50|18 at Sincere.

Preferred hi-index plastic lens over glass ones as the latter breakable and heavier for my prescription. [:)]

Where did you get it from? The last i checked with a shop at city square, marginally cheaper than my usual optician in Singapore. Prefer to support local retailers if they are competitive.

Please pay some commission to MCF, they are also a business. Lol

It was less than 100 SGD for just the lenses (without frills).

Don't remember the store name but it was one with a similar concept as onedays

Less than $250 frame + lens.

Actually, glass is not so easily shattered since you are going after small frame. I have dropped many times with no issue.

The challenge would be to find a small frame and to add to the challenge, Seiko frames are more catered to the matured market where most old foggies like big lens for the "money's worth". [laugh]

My Seiko frame is model T935, even after 4 years the printing on the plastic socks still won't fade! [thumbsup]

Not too sure about the block number at Upper Boon Keng, but it's near the standalone POSB ATM Machine and ASX machine, with a big anchor.

Only these type of old fashioned shops, then you can find Seiko, Nikon. Can try Tanjong Pagar Centre also go for old fashioned old foggy shops.

You want more fashionable good quality and expensive Japanese brand, can look for Kazua Kawasaki, but damn difficult to find.

Noted with thanks!

Good frames can last a long time. My head is like an oil rig, hence, I wash the spectacles every day. Lens is another consideration. Understand glass ones offer better clarity and not susceptible to scratches but optician recommended against it due to weight concern. Heard Shamir lens offer sharp vision similar to glass lens but must see to believe.

how u solved oily face problem?

In the morning, use water-based moisturing cream after face wash.

In afternoon, use wet wipe to clean your face.

Don't use face wash unless you bring along moisturing cream.
