Hello everyone.

 

There are some good updates!

 

Indiegogo has suspended my account and refunded the last 5 donors. The last 5 donors went to my Indiegogo account as my Paypal was suspended by then.

 

They are working to refund all platform fees with paypal now and paypal will then refund everyone every single cent. No fees at all.

 

Sit on tight bros! Money coming back soon liao. Please don't chase me for 1 week's worth of interest.

Dear Bros and Sis,

 

Please check your accounts in a week or so. Currently i wouldnt know the funds movement because i am locked out of my Indiegogo and Paypal accounts. So i do not know whats happening in there.

DEAR ALL MCFERS PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DONATE ANYMORE.

 

 

From my initial SMS conversation with Bei Bei, she mentioned there were hospital bills that were not covered and she asked them to bill to her address as she got no money to pay.

 

I was alerted on 30th Jan morning to check deeper. I spent the entire 30th Jan contacting

 

1. KK Hospital

2. Volunteer groups that have been on the case

3. (Ex)Husband. Technically they have not divorced yet

4. MP

 

KK Hospital responded that there are no outstanding bills. All their medical treatment has been subsidised since 2014 and this information tallies with all other 3 sources.

 

I started the crowd funding for Bei Bei and Jefferson as i thought that Jefferson had much outstanding bills and Bei Bei was unable to pay for them. For those who have been donating direct to her POSB, I hope that Bei Bei will be accountable for it and the money will help Jefferson in some ways other than his medical bills.

 

Since there are no outstanding bills, I will close the crowd funding and donate the amount collected to Children Cancer Foundation (I will post a receipt once i do it, Paypal in the process of terminating my account as they do not allow unregistered charity fundraising on paypal).

 

I hope that this decision is synonymous to the original intent of the donors, which is to help needy children with cancer.

 

Here, I would like to take this moment to apologise if I help misled anyone to think that Jefferson had outstanding medical fees. If I were to ever do this again (I don't think i will) I promise that I will do my fair share of ground checks prior to it. Please accept my apologies.

- The mother is misleading people into thinking that she has financial difficulties with her son's treatment

- The mother also misled everyone on the pineapple tart sale. She is not the one who baked the tarts, and it's anyone's guess where she got the tarts from

- The mother's background is not as innocent as everyone thinks. This was verified by one of my friend who personally went to her place and found out the following:

- The mother is living with another couple

- The mother has a boyfriend outside of her marriage

- When asked what does the boyfriend do, she says he's a plumber

- My friend saw a lot of men's business shirts, does a plumber wear business shirts to work? Or maybe he is a plumbing director?

- My friend is also the one who found out that the mother does not personally bake the tarts. There are two separate sources (other than my friend who have verified that the tarts are from other sources.

 

 

Personally, I don't blame the people doing the fundraising for the mother.

 

Blame the mother for misleading everyone.

Whether the mother truly really has difficulties paying the hospital bills or not, my intention then was to do my small part to help the boy.

There should be accountability for Bei Bei Indiegogo crowd funding.

I am the organiser and the one responsible for it.

Initially i wanted to donate the amount to CCF but a member told me Paypal can do refunds.

I am currently working with Indiegogo and Paypal to return every cent to donors.

Bei Bei lied that Jefferson had medical bills. Which he does not. Hence the fund ceases to have meaning.

I admit i did not do enough homework before i started the fund. I just interviewed the reporter and Bei Bei and took their word for it.

Now i am taking responsibility for my campaign donors and am working hard to ensure every cent is accounted for.

End of the day, all my intentions, my short comings, my mistakes and my remedy actions are posted online and in public for all to see.

I only wanted to help Jeff's medical fees. And since there is none, i will sort out the mess i created and then move on.

If you have donated via my Indiegogo Campaign, may i ask for your patience as I sort it out.

My current remedy action is to

1) Work with Indiegogo and Paypal to refund every single cent to donors.

if it does not work out,

2) Donate the amount to Children Cancer Foundation.

I am here to answer for my actions. It is suddenly suspended, because the tip offs came suddenly. It does not seem logical that when I realise something is wrong, i take my own time to introduce stop gap measures.

 

All the head and tails are in the post already. But if members need a more condensed version,

 

1. I read newspaper about Jeff

 

2. I interview reporter and Bei Bei

 

3. I start Fund raising

 

4. I realised got fishy business

 

5. I CSI one whole day and triangulate from different sources including KK Hospital, her MP, volunteer groups, her ex husband and husband's parents.

 

6. I stop the fund

 

7. Now I am trying to return the money.

Do not have to feel bad. We are grateful that you tried to help someone in need. It is not your fault that the truth was not what was reported.

 

I think donating to CCF is a good cause. I'm sure people who donated would like the money to help others too.
