all AD charge premium la .. not just CnC ... because jin ho jiak ... and sometime the work is even outsource

try to talk to the car owner and to do the repair outside if there is no "physical" damage only "superficial"

but if new car less than 3 years and still under warranty ...

if i'm the owner ... die die will want the repair done in AD ...

TS want to know the rough cost.

your reply is commonly known answer.

If just touch up repaint 2 panels should be around $300. 1-2 days job.

Partial respray very ugly. At first look swee swee. After a few mths, the 2 tone shade will look obvious.

Honestly speaking scratch until like that, not easy; scratch until like that without banging the panels, not easy also.

But the hardest part will still be the Benz owner's feelings. If he's just innocently there and not doing anything and the TS, through carelessness or negligence brought this sudden misfortune to him (I am sure most, if not all car owners would understand why something like this is a "misfortune"), unless he is some kind of saint, he will be out to get even, not just for the car but emotionally as well.

And that would directly affect the outcome cost of the compensation. I don't think the TS has any say as to what repairs the Benz owner should do (touch up paint vs panel replacement etc.) or even where the Benz owner should go (AD vs roadside workshop etc.). If the ones who caused the accidents can choose where and what to do for repairs, everyone would just touch up with permanent marker pens already. So I think the Benz owner, can I say the "victim" in this case, will get a bigger say of what needs to be done and where to do it.

Worse comes to worst, insurance claim, and he goes back to AD, and TS bear whatever consequential cost in terms of excess, up in insurance premiums etc. and only TS knows what cost spectrum he is looking at, and from there determine if the alternative (cash settlement without claiming insurance) is a better deal.

For reference, when I was young and stupid, I went back to AD for quote after my first incident; for bumper and front panel, the quote was already $3k coz AD said need to change everything, including one headlamp which was still working. And this was for a Jap car, from almost 9 years ago. Today's price, for a Benz, sorry to say I only dare to imagine.

I tot insurance excess is only applicable for own claiming purpose, doesn't concern the other party claiming u at all?

U are right. Only self-claim need to pay excess.

if go back cycle & carriage, easily $1000 (minimum).

$1000 is fair, when I did my Prius C, one door panel already $400+++++ at BM

personally, if private settlement means anything more than 300, i will surely go for ins claim.

am i worried next year premium go up? that's not something i can worry about. too many stories of clean record premium still went up and got claim but never go up much or at all.

Good luck to you if he goes back to AD for respray.

Each panel is $800. Min downtime is 3 days.

A taxi previously scratched my front bumper and tried to run away.

Sounds about right, I took a look at PML's spray paint shop. Looks like a damn laboratory.

This is a true, classy beemer owner.

Money no problem. 500-600 dollar no biggie. [laugh]

Some people drive luxury car but still miserly, out to get the last cent.

for the merc driving boss, he got many better things to do than "getting even" or "feel emo" over the scratch...

for the wannabe who spent his entire fortune on the downpayment and take huge loan for a merc, the scratch simply caused his world to crumble around him.

Haha. This is actually quite true.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but unfortunately for me I find myself surrounded by a lot of those belonging to the 2nd category. Need to be extra careful everytime I open my car door. [:p]
