AirAsia flight from Indonesia to Singapore missing - QZ8501

I am a greenhorn at this so any expert can shed some light - there is this emergency evacuation procedure which they always show to the passangers before every flight right, then there is the slide that will inflate and people should slide down, all that. If QZ8501 indeed had to make emergency landing on the water, then did the evacuation procedure fail? Under what circumstances can it really be followed, the plane must land really really nicely on the water, otherwise forget about it?

unless the plane can glide on the water nicely, else, those inflatable slides are useless as floats or boats.

one good example is that plane that landed on Hudson river.

It's not every time plane can land nicely on waters and open up slides.

I think in many cases, it may just plunge head-in or broke up in mid-air.

not implying the plane has crashed, but i'm curious..

we've seen demo about wearing life jackets, keeping our heads down and so on.. (forget about those seen in movies) what are the actual chances of survival if a jet fall into the sea, to be actually able to make use of it?

That's why I don't bother listening....

Anything that's uncontrolled would not have time to react.

Unless it's like the Hudson river ditching where the captain landed the a/c on the Hudson river, passengers would have put on like jacket and sat in brace position while the captain prepare to ditch.

Hope this is not another MH370, almost 35hrs already still nothing found...

Still no sighting of the Air Asia plane.

In the crash of Air Algerie in Mali in Jul14, the wreckage was found within hours.

Shepherds in the remote area spotted the plane coming down.

After looking at MH 370 whatever experts say .... they may be totally wrong. And anything can happen.

Best is to wait for good news...if any.

It was reported tat d next two days weather is clear n even d waves is not more than 1.5m. Hopefully, they will locate d flight soon. With d flight recorder recovered, d circumstances leading to d disappearance is much clearer.
