Celicar Turbocharged December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 I am a greenhorn at this so any expert can shed some light - there is this emergency evacuation procedure which they always show to the passangers before every flight right, then there is the slide that will inflate and people should slide down, all that. If QZ8501 indeed had to make emergency landing on the water, then did the evacuation procedure fail? Under what circumstances can it really be followed, the plane must land really really nicely on the water, otherwise forget about it? ↡ Advertisement

It's not every time plane can land nicely on waters and open up slides. I think in many cases, it may just plunge head-in or broke up in mid-air. (forget about those seen in movies) what are the actual chances of survival if a jet fall into the sea, to be actually able to make use of it? That's why I don't bother listening.... Anything that's uncontrolled would not have time to react. Unless it's like the Hudson river ditching where the captain landed the a/c on the Hudson river, passengers would have put on like jacket and sat in brace position while the captain prepare to ditch.
