I'd like to think that terrorists don't really care 1 or 2 or 3 planes as long as it puts them on the news, and bring a hundred lives down with them. If security is tightened, they can move on to a new target. Any lapse in security will be an opportunity for the terrorists.

Doubt is terrorist - nobody has claimed any responsibility, which is the antithesis of what a terrorist would do.

If you really want to speculate in the vein of conspiracy theories, Tom Clancy plots and the Illuminati - then it seems much more likely that some financial cartel is doing it to make money out of the resultant share movement.

They are rethinking:- maybe the location-becon on every plane should run longer hours instead of the present 48 or so hours.

Isn't the black box thingy supposed to last for 30 days?

They are also rethinking if 30 days is long enough [sweatdrop]

U nvr know. So far search got no headway. They are extending search to more areas n even land search now. Worst, tis AA plane has yet to be fitted with any satellite tracking device. Totally, no signal.

Maybe AA uses batteries from those one-dollar shops for the becon / blackbox, they run out of power very quick. [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

MH370 and QZ8501 seems like being suck to the other world.

(Just like Bermuda triangle airspace)

Till now, cant even find a single debris.

with our modern technology should not be difficult to trace of debris if there is a crash .

past incidents even if crashes on land and sea debris sure could be found ........

but for these few cases, not even a trace could be seen anywhere.........even if in the aerospace of other countries

at least there should be some clues of detecting the plane in distress???

Items resembling slide, plane door seen in AirAsia search
An AFP photographer on the search flight that spotted the possible debris said he had seen objects in the sea resembling a life raft, life jackets and long orange tubes.
PANGKALAN BUN, Indonesia - Items resembling an emergency slide, plane door and other objects were spotted in the sea during an aerial search Tuesday for missing AirAsia flight QZ8501, Indonesian officials said.
An AFP photographer on the search flight that spotted the possible debris said he had seen objects in the sea resembling a life raft, life jackets and long orange tubes.
Indonesian air force official Agus Dwi Putranto told reporters: "We spotted about 10 big objects and many more small white-coloured objects which we could not photograph." "The position is 10 kilometres (six miles) from the location the plane was last captured by radar," he said.
Putranto displayed 10 photos of objects resembling a plane door, emergency slide, and a square box-like object.
"It is not really clear... it could be the wall of the plane or the door of the plane," he said.
"Let's pray that those objects are what we are really trying to find," he said in Pangkalan Bun in Central Kalimantan on the island of Borneo.
AirAsia flight QZ8501 disappeared Sunday morning over the Java Sea with 162 people on board.
The search is focused on waters around the islands of Bangka and Belitung in the Java Sea, across from Kalimantan.

Nevertheless, it is compulsory for all airplanes to be fitted with emergency locator transmitter (ELT) beacon that transmits on satellite frequency and is activated by crash forces or contact with water. Though the signals will be severely damped once underwater...

If this is really the part of the plane, than RIP to the passengers and crews.

While it is bad news for the family members, at least there is closure unlike MH 370.

Hope the family members can be strong as I am sure no words can describe their grief, and no amount of words can console them of their loss.

  • Praise 1
