Gnahp Turbocharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Unless it is a sequential manual gearbox, the H pattern box will go pass neutral between gears, no?
Zxcvb Turbocharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 What kind of trick question is this?? Normally, N -1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - (6) if have sixth gear. When overtaking or "wanna play" mode, will drop from cruising gear (5) to (3) and rev it speed up acceleration.
Kevin613 1st Gear December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 1-2-3-4-5, i dont go neutral unless i'm having a long wait at traffic light.
Xers007 Supercharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Unless it is a sequential manual gearbox, the H pattern box will go pass neutral between gears, no? i think what he meant is to pause a while at N before shifting to other gear... but when i drive manual, i will not pause at N but just shift straight to next gear..
Naimed 5th Gear December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Too tedious to go N-1-N-2-N-3-N-4...during your daily drive to rev match/double clutch everytime you down shift. In Singapore's driving condition, just relac drive la.
Watwheels Supersonic December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Unless it is a sequential manual gearbox, the H pattern box will go pass neutral between gears, no? You have to. It's designed to be so.
Mrmilktooth Supercharged December 19, 2014 Author Share December 19, 2014 Haha... So easy to misread my question... From starting pt. Always at n. When u change gear n to 1. Then do you go to n then to 2 or st from 1 to 2.. My dad thought me to do 1 to n to 2.. But I lazy to do so.. Means more time spend to change gear.. It does not mean letting car go to neutral... For gears 3,4,5 all Wil pass through n ma.. If u realise.. Haha.. Just a though
Albeniz Turbocharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 If the car is starting from stand still, then it is in sequence from N->1->2->3->4->5 If the car still has some momentum, instead of going from N to 1, I go straight from N to 2. During slowing down, I usually put the gear from 5 to N and then when the speed becomes significantly slower, change from N to 3, i.e. 5->N->3. But only for very old cars from the 60s and 70s when there is no synchromesh or for cars that the synchromesh is spoilt. For new cars with perfectly good synchromesh no need. But matching engine revs to road speed is a must.

Jamesc Hypersonic December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Should ask your dad why he goes to n and maybe he will tell you when he learn to drive this is what he was taught.

N ma... [sweatdrop] im not overthinking and doing rev match upshift/ downshift.. even from 5 to 3 you also pass to Pt. N.. getit??.. so seems like most of you go from 1 to 2 sttraight since its a st line down.. and not 1 to N to 2.. cos need to go through 2 "Ls" not trying to confuse you .. 1 LN _ |

N is not only between 3rd and 4th gear when ur hand release the gear stick where it will spring back to... 1 3 5 NNNNNNN >>>> this space is consider N 2 4 R Edited December 19, 2014 by Xers007
