Zert88 1st Gear December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Recieved a parking ticket from LTA for alighting a passenger. Im sure that i stopped for less than 3 mins. Anybody knows is there a time limit for allowing passenger to alight or board?? Or are we not allowed to stop at double yellow line?? Has the rule changed? There are cctv everywhere, so drivers out there pls be careful. ↡ Advertisement
Vega Turbocharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 how come alighting needs 3 mins? unless someone on wheel chair or not feeling well.
Columbian78 6th Gear December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 I am supportive of being allowed to drop off or pick up passengers at places without causing hindrance or safety. Probably LTA does not consider 3 minutes of stopping as alighting but more of parking. The rules did state quite clearly, the key word being "immediate". Rules didn't change. Were you dropping off baby or handcapped personnel that requires long time. Maybe you can write in. But take note they would have photos or videos.
Qpik Supercharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 TS according to link enclosed. It states no parking. n knowing how they work, if u hv proof that u stopped for less than 3mins, u can write in and appeal. otherwise, it is just shooting yrself in the feet cos u hv been caught on CCTV. http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/modifications_and_vehoffences/vehicle_related_offences/illegal_parking.html
Fitvip Supersonic December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 The offence is parking against unbroken double yellow lines, not alighting. Alighting won't take 3 minutes, even with wheel chair!
Dafansu Turbocharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Alighting should be done within 10 to 20sec.
Andylkkg 4th Gear December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 In another word, mean no waiting after alighting in few seconds the most as allowance!

Dice 3rd Gear December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 ya, agree with bros here, just write in to appeal if you believe you stopped for very short time just to alight your passengers.
Acemundo Supercharged December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 In another word, mean no waiting after alighting in few seconds the most as allowance! what about the lanes designated "give-way-to-buses"? it usually means we have to give way when the buses filters out but I wonder if there is any issue with obstructing the bus just before the drawn up symbol is located? recently they started painting the lane at mrt near my house. I have stopped dropping her, but I usually only takes 10 secs to drop her at most.

Commonly, I observed this "give way to buses" is being practised as the same approach to yellow box, but no so as yellow box as I got clarified it with an Taxi instructor by chance and according to him, traffic can still form up over this "give way to buses" box! I did not countercheck if this was taught in current basic theory book.
Fcw75 Hypersonic December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 Write in to appeal. Appeal = 50% of saving $70 No appeal = 0% chance of saving $70

As with yellow boxes, vehicles are not allowed to stay inside the yellow box or give way to bus box that's painted in yellow. But vehicles should stop behind the box if there is a bus exiting. I think there are double broken white lines before the yellow box, stop behind the broken white lines.

Andylkkg 4th Gear December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 brother, means it is ok for traffic to form before the "give-way" lane? The explanation is if there are no bus in bus bay, then traffic form up inside is acceptable, but if bus is in the bus bay, then it should be treated as normal yellow box. Irony, rule of thumb for me is always treat it as yellow box in regardless if there are bus in bus bay or not, likewise, if not, even if there is bus letting passengers to alight and then exiting and was blocked by traffic form up inside the box, what penalty will that be or be treated as obstruction in an yellow box scenario, any Mcfers care to share? IMG_20141219_130726.JPG such CCTV has been installed in many and many places, especially near mrt or bus stop, this one cannot play play. you must be very sure you did it in less than 30 second before you appeal, 3 min in quite long.
